The Mighty Have Fallen: The Once Strong Play-In Teams Are Now Weak

The 2019 Spring Split has reached the halfway point, and a considerable amount of teams that represented each region for Worlds are currently struggling in their respective leagues. This is especially true for regions that had to play in the Play-In Stage at Worlds.

The three teams that represented the LCK - kt Rolster, Afreeca Freecs, and Gen.G Esports; LEC's Fnatic; and LCS' 100 Thieves are all struggling.

This isn't limited to just the major regions. The team who represented Brazil's CBLOL was KaBuM! e-Sports, a team that rose to prominence during the Play-In Stage due to their aggressive ADC player. Currently, they're tied for 5th place in the CBLOL leaderboard. The team that represented Latin America's LLA, Kaos Latin Gamers, is currently 3-9 in their league and are second to last in the standings.

Oceania's OPL's Dire Wolves are the worst case so far. Currently, with a score of 1-11, they're in last place for their league. The reason for their underperformance seems to come from the departure of Shernfire and k1ng. As for LJL's Pentagram, the team disbanded due to dishonorable reasons.

On the other hand, there are still regions that are dominated by traditionally strong teams. Turkey's TCL's 1907 Fenerbahçe Esports is currently tied for 1st place with SuperMassive with a score of 10-2. In Japan, the team that was seen as equal in strength to Pentagram, DetonatioN FocusMe, is standing in 1st place with a score of 11-0.

It should be noted, KLG represented LAS, which's now merged with LAN (again) to just form one Latin American region and INF and R7 (previous teams which represented LAN), are still top teams there, like DFM is still a top team in Japan.
