HLE Thal: "I made a resolution that I will never repeat what happened last year"

On the 15th, at the LoL Park, the 18th day of the 2019 LCK Spring Split took place. On the second series of the day, Hanwha Life Esports played against Kingzone, in which HLE came out victorious with a score of 2-0. Through this game, HLE had secured their 5th win of the split, placing them 4th in the LCK leaderboard.

The following is a post-match interview with HLE's top laner, Thal.

How do you feel about your victory today?

It was a very important match today. I'm very satisfied that we were able to win.

Today, we witnessed the first 9.3 Yasuo in the LCK. What is your opinion on this champion?

He's a pick that even I don't trust. (Laughs) But jokes aside, he's a great champion - he can both DPS and tank.

He's a solid top lane pick as well, hence why I'm practicing him at the moment.

Sylas has also been seeing a lot of play recently. What's your opinion on him?

Sylas is a bit... weird. He can win against anyone but at the same time, lose against anyone. In addition, he's just bad when the enemy team doesn't have any great ultimates to steal.

What's your opinion on the 'Frostmancy meta'?

People kept parroting "Frostmancy, Frostmancy," but honestly, I didn't think too much of it. I just gave them the gold and said, "you can keep your three wards!" It wasn't really a problem.

Are there any champions in the top lane that rose in power due to patch 9.3?

Yorick, for sure.

He was buffed in a previous patch, and he became a very powerful champion from it. Vladimir is probably another example.

Currently, you're seen as one of the best players on HLE. Your performance saw a huge spike coming into the 2019 season. What do you think caused your huge rise in performance?

I started practicing even harder, and in addition, I made a resolution that I will never repeat what happened last year. I believe my newly-developed, strong mentality helped me improve as a player. On top of that, my new teammates and I just have better teamwork.

What is HLE's strength as a team?

How fiery we are.

A lot of analysts compare your team to the LPL teams, stating that you're just as aggressive as they are in-game. Do you agree?

We're better than them, though. (Laughs)

Any last words for your fans?

Our last match of Round 1 will be against DAMWON Gaming. We'll beat them and finish the first round robin with a score of 6-3. Thank you.
