AFs Coach Ccomet: "We should first recover our confidence. It’s a big relief that we’ve won today and gained positive momentum."

On the 13th of October (KST), Afreeca Freecs (AFs) defeated Phong Vũ Buffalo (PVB) in the 2018 Worlds Group Stage. Going through some criticism on their draft and playstyle, AFs needed a turning point in order to recover their performance for this Worlds.

After a successful top countergank, Mowgli’s Olaf started to dominate the jungle matchup. With Kiin’s Irelia gaining kills, AFs snowballed quickly through the early game. After slaying the Baron, AFs won a teamfight near PVB’s bottom inhibitor and closed down the game. After the match, we had the chance to interview AFs’ coach, Ccomet.

The following is the interview with AFs Ccomet.

Afreeca secured their first win for this Worlds. How do you feel?

It’s a relief since we really needed this victory.

The team lost twice in the first two games in this Worlds. How was the team's atmosphere?

It’s really hard to maintain a positive atmosphere when a team is on a losing streak. Still, the AFs crew are doing their utmost to get back in. Practice didn’t go as we’ve planned, so I thought we needed a win to bounce back. Now that we’ve finally won, we’ll do our best to maintain the positive momentum we've earned from this victory.

What kind of feedback did the team make going into today’s match?

I told my players to focus on vision control. I also told them to make clear decisions on how they would snowball through the game.

In the current Worlds, Swain is becoming a prominent pick in the mid lane matchup. What are your thoughts on him?

Swain is a concrete pick against the mid lane bruisers. However, he can be countered against numerous champions in lane phase so you should use him on specific situations.

What would be the most urgent improvement that Afreeca Freecs should make?

We should first recover our confidence. Recently, our team lost a lot of confidence; we didn’t know what to do. It’s a big relief that we’ve won today and gained positive momentum.

Any last words for the Afreeca Freecs fans?

I want to say sorry since we’ve been letting you guys down. We’ll do our best to recover our performance and make it to the quarterfinals.
