MVP Jungler Kim “Beyond” Kyu-seok has changed his ID to Yondu.

On the 2nd of June (KST), MVP announced through their social media that Beyond changed his ID to Yondu. The reason for the change was that there was already another player with the same ID in another league. MVP explained that they made the change to avoid confusion.

Head coach Kwon Jae-hwan said “We got the idea for the new ID from fans calling him 'Monk Yondu'. Since Yondu cut his hair short, we used the Chinese character 頭 and named him 'Yondu'. It means to become strong like a movie hero, being able to defeat his opponent jungler with only a whistle.”
*Note: The character 頭 means ‘head’, and is pronounced du in Korean.

The other ‘Beyond’ is active as a sub-mid laner for EVOS Esports, a team that reached the Play-in stage of MSI 2018. He had his debut in March of 2014, meaning he debuted earlier than Yondu, who had his debut in December of 2015.

Meanwhile, MVP was in danger of being relegated by finishing 9th in the 2018 LCK Spring Split, but was able to stay in the LCK by defeating the Ever8 Winners and Kongdoo Monster in the summer promotion matches.
