[APEX] EnVyUs HarryHook’s Semifinal Postmatch Interview

▲ Jonathan "HarryHook" Tejedor

Congratulations on advancing to the finals. How are you feeling?

The happiest I’ve ever felt in all of my gaming life! [laughs] Very, very few foreign teams have come to Korea and made it to the finals of a premier tournament, regardless of title.

Mind if I ask how the team felt right after dropping the first set, though?

We didn’t mind too much because we knew we weren’t that great on King of the Hill. We talked over our strategies for the next game and tried to cheer each other up as to keep a positive mindset.

Uncia used Sombra on Hanamura today.

We weren’t too surprised. We had faced off against Sombra several times in scrims recently, which helped us deal with it in the match. Her ult charge speed threw us off a bit at first, but we quickly adjusted to it in-game.

Can you tell us how to deal with Sombra?

Sombra’s ultimate is extremely powerful, so it is important to use our ultimates before she has hers up. If Sombra’s is already charged, you have to spread out while she holds on to it. Her ult loses effectiveness once you know how to respond to its threat. I don’t think Sombra is OP.

The team seems to be playing in more positive spirits since Mickie arrived.

Mickie has fantastic mechanics, although it’s difficult to perceive at times since he only plays D.Va. Take a look at his play closely and you’ll see. His English isn’t the greatest, which leads to miscommunication sometimes, but we deal with that by having the other five members keep their English simple and clear to understand. Although we can’t exchange detailed calls on the fly, Mickie mitigates that shortcoming by keeping us upbeat throughout the game through his positive personality.

You failed to take even a single point on Route 66.

We suffered from communication problems. We knew that Uncia would charge in last minute, and asked Mickie to throw his mech into the air, but it didn’t really get through. I’m not blaming him in any way, since we all played poorly on that map.

The grand finals will be played at Ilsan KINTEX, a huge venue. Are you excited?

I’m very excited. We of course will be unable to pay too much attention to the crowd when we actually play, of course, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m really looking forward to it!

How do you rate Afreeca Freecs Blue?

We didn’t scrim them too often, so it’s hard to form an informed opinion, but we believe that Kongdoo Uncia should have been a stronger team than Afreeca Freecs Blue on this particular patch. Since we beat Uncia today, I feel confident about our upcoming match against Blue.

Are you looking forward to playing against ArHaN, who is considered by most as Afreeca Freecs Blue’s best player?

ArHaN is a world class DPS player, and I’m very much looking forward to it. It has not been a very long time since I’ve switched to DPS from support, so I expect to have a tough time.

Any last words for your fans?

I want to thank our Korean fans. We had more local fans than we expected, and it’s really giving us a big morale boost. I also want to of course thank all of our sponsors – without them, we would not have made it this far. Thank you!
