New Overwatch hero, Moira, available on PTR now!

The new support hero for Overwatch, Moira, has been added to the PTR on November 6th. This makes her the 26th hero in the game, as well as a new known member of Talon. According to the game’s lore revealed at BlizzCon, Moira is an ambitious character that does not hesitate to use whatever methods she can find to achieve her goals, which can be seen from her transferring to Blackwatch from Overwatch, and then to Talon to keep working on her research.

Even though Moira is a support, she uses all her skills (except for her Shift) for both inflicting damage and healing allies. Her basic attack, Biotic Grasp, heals allies when LMB is pressed and inflicts damage on enemies when RMB is pressed. Her LMB shoots out biotic energy, similar to how Mei’s Endothermic Blaster shoots out a stream of frost, healing allies, and her RMB fires a long beam that steals health from enemies on hit, which resembles Symmetra’s basic attack.

On the other hand, her RMB range is 21m, which is much farther than Symmetra’s and does not deal increased damage over the time it’s connected; instead, it allows her to fill up her Biotic Energy gauge while healing Moira based on the damage dealt to enemies. Using LMB consumes this gauge and Moira cannot heal once this gauge becomes empty, meaning she must constantly deal damage with her RMB to heal allies.

▲ Moira’s skills.
▲ The range for her Biotic Grasp is 21 m, which is fairly long.
▲ Use RMB for Biotic Grasp to sap health from enemies and heal allies.

Her other skill, Biotic Orb, can also heal or deal damage. When using this skill, players can choose to use the regenerating orb that heals allies by clicking LMB or decaying orb that deals damage by clicking RMB. This will fire a slow-moving orb, either healing allies or inflicting damage while ignoring enemy shields.

Moira’s ult, Coalescence, heals allies and deals damage to enemies simultaneously for a certain period of time. The skill range is quite long, so using it at the right moment can turn the tide of a game.

Moira can be played on the PTR starting from today, although players need access to a Battlenet account with the license for Overwatch already purchased on it. However, only a limited number of concurrent players can access the PTR.

▲ Player can choose either a regenerating or decaying orb when using the skill, Biotic Orb.
▲ The orb will rebound if there’s a wall or an obstacle in its way.
▲ Moira’s ult, Coalescence, can heal and deal damage at the same time.
