New Game+ has finally arrived in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Ubisoft released free Title Update 1.8.0 for Assassin's Creed Valhalla on November 5. The update includes a variety of content, including the long-requested New Game+ mode, a new progression system, gear upgrade features, and PS5 Pro graphical enhancements.
The biggest change is the addition of New Game+. Allowing players to restart the game from the beginning while retaining a significant portion of their existing progression, the mode becomes available after completing the final quest in the Hamtunscire region. Although this is before reaching the game's true ending, Ubisoft made New Game+ accessible slightly earlier considering the game's vast scale. Each iteration of New Game+ becomes progressively more difficult.
In New Game+, acquiring gear or Books of Knowledge that you already own will reward you with Mithril, a new resource. Mithril is used to upgrade gear to Divine quality and to upgrade top-tier runes. When acquiring Carbon, Nickel, and Tungsten ingots from Wealth chests, players will receive Platinum ingots for free. Through this, players can now upgrade gear to Divine quality without owning the Dawn of Ragnarök DLC.

The gear progression system has also been expanded. The maximum upgrade tier for Divine quality gear has increased from 13 to 27 levels, and an optional progression mode has been added that allows players to increase their total power using gear, runes, and mastery. Additionally, a storage chest for storing gear and runes has been added to Ravensthorpe, alongside expanded rune upgrading and engraving features. A new Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe's costume has also been introduced.
Graphical enhancements for the PS5 Pro have also been applied. The update supports improved PSSR to deliver sharper and more stable image quality. Ubisoft explained via the PlayStation Blog that image clarity and stability have been improved compared to previous upscaling technology, enabling PS5 Pro to run Quality Mode at 60 FPS while outputting 4K resolution.
Rather than completely overhauling the game's content or visual assets, the new PSSR was applied directly to the existing engine and rendering pipeline. This allows players to experience the open world—from the snowy mountains of Norway to the forests and grasslands of England—with greater clarity and smoothness.
In addition, two new achievements, weapon balance adjustments, quality-of-life bundles, and premium character packs have been added. Valhalla has also been newly included in the Animus Hub synchronization feature, allowing players to complete objectives and earn rewards based on gameplay activity.
