Lara Croft meets G.I. JOE and joins The Crew Motorfest for Tomb Raider's 30th

Add us on

Crystal Dynamics has rounded up a wave of partner collaborations for Tomb Raider's 30th anniversary on October 24th, from a Nintendo Switch 2 Collector's Edition to a G.I. JOE crossover comic, a Croft Manor brick set and an event in The Crew Motorfest.

According to a release, the lineup centers on consumer products for fans. Most of it is out now. Two more pieces (a pair of 8BitDo controllers and a Dark Horse hardcover) arrive over the next few days.

What is available now

The game tie-in is the biggest of the bunch. Lara and Jonah have arrived in The Crew Motorfest, Ubisoft's open-world racing game, in a new player-versus-environment (PvE) adventure; the release lists exploration, environmental puzzles, ancient artifacts and a T-Rex encounter. Five exclusive vehicles come with it. A trailer went up alongside the collab.

Jonah, Lara's friend and travelling companion, has been part of the series since the 2013 reboot. PvE content pits players against the game itself (here, puzzles and a dinosaur) instead of other players.

Over on Switch 2, Limited Run Games has released a physical Collector's Edition of Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration. The box holds the full game on a cartridge, a Steelcase (a metal game case), a Trinity patch and a light-up replica of the Divine Source, the relic at the heart of Rise's story.

Lara also meets G.I. JOE for the first time. G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero x Tomb Raider is a new five-issue limited series from Skybound and Image Comics, with issue #1 out now. Fanbrix, meanwhile, has announced an officially licensed Croft Manor brick set. It runs to 4,355 pieces, with characters, vehicles and details the release says are drawn from Tomb Raider's history.

Controllers and a hardcover on the way

8BitDo will release two special-edition Tomb Raider controllers on October 24th, the anniversary itself. Three days later, on October 27th, Dark Horse will publish Chronicles of the Tomb Raider, a 184-page hardcover that retells Lara's adventures in chronological order. The book also covers the characters and locations that helped define the series.

Crystal Dynamics called these ‘just a few’ of the ways partners are celebrating across the anniversary year. The release frames the lineup as proof of how far the franchise has reached beyond games over three decades.

The first Tomb Raider launched in 1996, developed by Core Design. Crystal Dynamics has led the series since Tomb Raider: Legend in 2006.
