NC (formerly NCSOFT) has shared results from the closed beta test (CBT) of Astrae Oratio, an anime role-playing game (RPG) from developer Dynamis One. It is due out on iOS and Android in 2027, with a PC release to follow.

According to a release, players logged nearly 80,000 hours of total play time during the five-day test, which ran from October 2nd to October 6th. Combat scenarios were attempted more than 1.13 million times. Eight in ten players came back on a second consecutive day. NC also put the numbers into an infographic.

A closed beta is a limited test held before launch, usually open only to selected sign-ups. Developers use it to see how a game holds up (and what players think of it) before release.

What players saw in the beta

Testers got three main story chapters plus two mini stories, along with combat quests at several difficulty levels. The beta also included “Score Trial”, a boss challenge where players compete for high scores, and “Free Time”, a mode for spending time with the game's characters outside the main story. The Score Trial boss was cleared nearly 20,000 times, the release says.

NC called the player feedback ‘overwhelmingly positive’. In its post-CBT survey, 93% of respondents said they plan to play Astrae Oratio after launch; 86.7% reported a positive first impression. More than 80% praised the story and characters.

NC said it will use the gameplay data and feedback from the test to support further development as it prepares for launch. No exact release date has been given yet. Astrae Oratio is set in a world where magic and everyday life coexist; more details are on the official Astrae Oratio site.

NC was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Pangyo, Korea. It is best known for the Lineage, AION, Blade & Soul and Guild Wars franchises. Its Western publishing arm, NC America, is based in Irvine, California, where it handles live production and publishing for select NC titles in North America, South America, Europe and Oceania.
