Healing, Deadly Poison, and Late-Game Instant Death
Shinobu Kocho in Seven Knights Re:BIRTH is a Magic hero responsible for both healing allies and weakening enemies. Awakened Shinobu heals all allies for 30% of her Magic Attack every time allies trigger skills twice. She also applies a 52% reduction in Recovery Received and a 34% reduction in Effect Resistance to all enemies. Allies restore HP while attacking, while opponents struggle with healing and debuff resistance.
Skill 1, 'True Flutter', prioritizes attacking poisoned enemies. If the target is inflicted with Poison, she has a 75% chance to inflict Deadly Poison on up to 4 other enemies for 1 turn, while dealing Piercing damage equal to 340% of her Magic Attack to the main target. It is a skill that uses Poison on a single target as a springboard to pressure other enemies with Deadly Poison.
Skill 2, 'Compound Eye Hexagon', inflicts Buff Block for 3 turns on a single target (prioritizing the front row) before dealing Piercing damage equal to 98% of her Magic Attack 6 times. Each hit has a 25% chance to attempt inflicting Deadly Poison for 3 turns. By preventing the target from receiving new buffs with Buff Block, she can pressure the front row with continuous attacks and Deadly Poison.
Deadly Poison is a damage-over-time effect treated as Poison. Although it has a damage cap equal to 150% of the caster's Attack, it can chip away at 30% of the target's maximum HP every turn. Increasing Shinobu's Attack improves not only her direct damage, but also the damage cap of Deadly Poison and her allies' healing. Investing in Attack translates into both damage and support. Shinobu's Skill 2, basic attacks, and fellow Magic team component Dongyeong all feature Deadly Poison, creating great synergy with Shinobu's Skill 1.

While Camouflaged, Shinobu cannot be targeted by single-target attacks, and incoming attacks and debuffs are guaranteed to miss. Although Camouflage is removed if only Camouflaged heroes remain as valid targets, until then it aids her healing support and survivability. Every 2 hits taken, her self-heal also activates, and upon death, she applies irremovable Deadly Poison twice to all enemies. She revives once with 100% HP while regaining Camouflage, making it difficult for her to be eliminated from combat early.
In the late game, building 'Poison Stacks' through basic attacks and taking hits becomes crucial. Stacking up to 6 times, each stack increases Magic Attack by 5%, which also ties into the additional effects of her Awakening Skill, 'Hundred-Legged Zigzag'. Hundred-Legged Zigzag attacks all enemies 3 times with Piercing damage, removes 2 buffs, and inflicts Deadly Poison corresponding to the number of buffs removed. At 4 Poison Stacks, Unhealable is added; at 5 stacks, Buff Block is added; and at 6 stacks, Instant Death is added. This allows her to harass enemies, support allies, and finish off foes with Instant Death.

Supplementing Sustainability in Youngeon Magic Teams
Shinobu's primary use is in Magic team compositions in PvP content. The recommended lineup is Youngeon, Eileen, Hayeon, Shinobu, and Dongyeong. While Youngeon handles the main DPS duties and Eileen and Hayeon harass opponents with crowd control, Shinobu adds healing and debuffs. It is a solid setup frequently seen in the Arena.
You can maintain the requirements for Youngeon's Magic-type team passive while benefiting from Shinobu's healing. Even if Youngeon's initial attack fails to wipe out all opponents, it provides room to replenish HP and prepare for the next attack. Shinobu's Effect Resistance reduction boosts the crowd control of Eileen and Hayeon. While locking down enemy actions, Youngeon attacks and Shinobu stacks additional damage with Deadly Poison. Against opponents relying on healing to hold out, applying her Recovery Received reduction hinders their HP recovery.
Another advantage is that you don't need to queue a separate healing skill. Because healing occurs naturally within the flow of allies using skills, you can maintain team sustainability while maintaining offensive pressure. Shinobu herself survives through Camouflage and Revive, allowing her to reach her late-game Awakening Skill.
If you want to use Seonran, you can swap Eileen out for Seonran. However, as a baseline, it's best to understand Shinobu's role in adding healing and Deadly Poison to the Youngeon–Eileen core. She is a hero who complements combat after the initial assault while preserving the existing attack flow of Magic teams.
Beyond that, Shinobu continues to excel in competitive modes such as All-Out War and Guild War. In All-Out War, since Eileen and Hayeon are usually split between Attack and Defense decks, Omok and Reginleif often fill those slots. In Guild War, she is seen being used in Defense decks alongside Youngeon and Dongyeong, who form the core of the Magic team. She is also drawing significant attention in PvE content, leveraging her supporting strengths alongside high hit counts and Deadly Poison damage.

The Standard Gear Choice is Chaser
The standard recommendation is a 4-piece Chaser set. A safe choice is running 2 weapons with Attack % main stats and 2 armor pieces with Damage Taken Reduction main stats. Equipping All Attack % on weapons benefits both her damage output and healing, while Damage Reduction armor provides additional survivability—after all, having Camouflage doesn't always guarantee complete safety.
At Transcendence 2, Shinobu gains an innate 100% increase to Critical Rate. Since you don't need to stack Critical Rate in her base setup, you can run Attack weapons instead of Critical Rate weapons. Other substats worth considering include Weakness Attack Rate, Speed, and Effect Hit Rate.
Speed helps secure initiative for Magic teams, so it's best to stack as much as possible where feasible. Raising Effect Hit Rate as high as possible is also beneficial, though balancing Weakness Attack Rate and Speed substats while hitting 100% Effect Hit Rate can be difficult. Gearing up to reasonable thresholds should suffice.
For Exclusive Equipment, the All Attack % increase option is preferred. As mentioned earlier, it boosts both healing and damage output. However, unless you have enough Tuning Stones ready, settling temporarily for options like Damage Amplification or Effect Hit Rate and revising them later is completely fine. As a side note, some players utilize a Vanguard set to maximize Attack alongside a Speed-oriented build, so be sure to weigh your available equipment carefully.

Aim for at Least Transcendence 2
Transcendence 2 eases the gearing burden through its Critical Rate boost. Utility features like healing, enemy Recovery Received reduction, and Effect Resistance reduction can be utilized prior to that. If resources are tight, setting Transcendence 2 as an intermediate goal is a solid choice.
At Transcendence 6, she starts combat with 3 Poison Stacks and gains an additional 3 Poison Stacks upon reviving. This doesn't unlock the Awakening Skill's extra effects for the first time at Transcendence 6, but rather helps reach the required stack threshold faster. She receives a Magic Attack boost from the start, making it easier to meet the Awakening Skill's conditions for Unhealable, Buff Block, and Instant Death.
If you intend to use Shinobu as a main player in the Arena, Transcendence 6 is recommended. It makes it much easier to transition from supporting with healing to finishing off matches with her Awakening Skill. Conversely, if you still lack a main DPS, it is better to build your team's damage capacity first before pushing Shinobu's Transcendence higher. If core Magic team components like Youngeon, Dongyeong, and Eileen are already established, Shinobu will elevate the team to completion.
