Netmarble has announced a major content update for RF ONLINE NEXT, its sci-fi massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), adding Albern Fortress, the game's first siege warfare mode, alongside a new server called Vera.
According to a release, the first battle at Albern Fortress takes place on October 31st. Up to 10 guilds (500 players in total) fight at once. Netmarble calls it the game's first ‘Outer Planet Siege Warfare’, describing ‘a high-stakes battlefield’.
Getting in takes work. Six spots go to Mining War winners; three more go to guilds that win an auction using Alberium Ingots, which are made from Alberium Ore gathered in Albern Crater or Albern Warzone. Whichever guild holds the Control Bridge for 20 minutes wins. The prize: exclusive titles, unique costumes, access to a Siege Shop plus a cut of the tax collected on the marketplace.
Mining War itself changes on October 24th. It becomes single-server skirmishes first, followed by integrated national battles. On the same day, the in-game marketplace is reorganized into unified World and Regional Marketplaces.
New server and more events
Vera opens on October 23rd, with growth support events for its players running through November 11th. The Novus World Conquest! 7-Day Mission Event hands out an Epic Biosuit Summon Ticket. Two more events (Indefatigable Mercenary and Sacred Weapon Enhancement Support) give ranking rewards, Node resources and Credits, along with up to 500 Summon Tickets.
Today's update also adds Chapter 11.5. It's an interlude. It wraps up the Asu Continent storyline while setting up the move toward Lavaron, the release says.
A Halloween event dungeon, Jack-o'-Lantern's Banquet Hall, follows on October 28th with eight stages; its event currency buys the Infernal Nightmare costume or the Black Cat Rover appearance. Then, on November 4th, Netmarble launches Babylon Occupation Battle. It is a Sacred Weapon Dungeon spread across 12 servers, where 200 players per server take on a boss called Grand Hauler for Tier 5 Epic equipment, Sacred Weapon Modification materials and blueprints for the Legendary MAU Hercules and Legendary Launcher Typhon.
RF ONLINE NEXT is the official sequel to RF Online. Its world is one ‘where advanced machinery has replaced flesh and blood’, according to Netmarble. A Biosuit system lets players switch classes on the fly; MAU mechs, Launchers and summons such as the Animus round out the fighting.
Netmarble was founded in Korea in 2000. It is the parent company of Kabam, SpinX Games and Jam City; it is also a major shareholder of HYBE and NCSOFT. Its games include Solo Leveling:ARISE, Seven Knights Re:BIRTH, Raven2, MARVEL Future Fight and The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross.
