CD Projekt Red (CDPR)'s Cyberpunk 2077 is being adapted into a live-action movie.
North American media outlet Deadline reported exclusively on the 9th (KST) that Paramount Pictures is producing a live-action movie based on CDPR's Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, producer of Transformers and G.I. Joe, will participate in the film's production alongside CDPR.
While the movie will be set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, specific details such as the plot, characters, director, and cast have not yet been revealed. It is also unknown whether the movie will follow the story of the original game or present a new narrative set in the same universe, like the Edgerunners series.
CDPR Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski stated on X, "We are thrilled to welcome Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative vision for the Cyberpunk franchise," adding, "We look forward to sharing more details at the appropriate time."

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world action-adventure RPG developed by CDPR. Set in Night City, it follows the story of protagonist V, who embarks on a journey for survival after being implanted with a chip containing the personality of legendary rockstar Johnny Silverhand. The game has surpassed 40 million cumulative copies sold worldwide, and its expansion, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has recorded over 15 million copies sold.
Previously, CDPR expanded the Cyberpunk 2077 universe with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime created in collaboration with Japanese animation studio Trigger. Following the well-received first season, Edgerunners 2 is scheduled to be released on October 20.
Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures has recently been expanding its film production utilizing video game IPs. A live-action Street Fighter movie is scheduled for release on October 16, and a film based on Call of Duty is also in production.
