Mafia III: Definitive Edition has launched on PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S, arriving alongside a new Steam update that marks 10 years since the game’s original release.
According to the announcement, the console versions run at 60 frames per second (FPS) and include a range of technical improvements. On PC, the Steam update brings quality-of-life enhancements and is live now. The announcement directed players to a blog post for a full breakdown of the changes.
Mafia III first released on October 7th 2016. Set in 1968, the game follows Lincoln Clay as he takes bloody revenge on the mob that runs the city of New Bordeaux. The anniversary announcement opened with the line ‘Family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for’, and presented the update as a celebration of ‘a decade of Lincoln’s legacy’.
Current-gen updates and Mafia franchise sale
The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S release is part of ongoing work to bring current-gen updates to Mafia: The Omertà Collection. Current-gen refers to the newest generation of home consoles, which in this case means PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement did not confirm which titles in the collection will be updated next.
For a limited time, Mafia III: Definitive Edition is also discounted by 80% on PlayStation, Xbox and Steam. The price cut is part of a wider sale running across the Mafia franchise.
