Square Enix will add Korean subtitles to two major titles in the Kingdom Hearts series in early summer 2027. They will be supported across major console and PC platforms, and a physical edition is scheduled to release in line with the Korean language update.

On October 8, Square Enix announced its plan for Korean subtitle support alongside the release of Kingdom Hearts Collection, which bundles major entries in the Kingdom Hearts series. The titles receiving new Korean subtitle support are KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX and KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. Kingdom Hearts III and its downloadable content Re Mind already support Korean subtitles; through this update, only Simplified Chinese subtitles will be added to those entries.

Korean subtitles will be supported on major console and PC platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox on PC. However, how Korean subtitles are applied varies depending on the platform.

On Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, Korean subtitles will be added exclusively to the Japanese version. Similarly, on Xbox and Steam, players must run the Japanese version to select Korean subtitles. After the update, if Xbox system language or Steam client/game language settings are set to Korean, the Japanese version will run automatically. The Epic Games Store will provide Korean subtitles only for products purchased with accounts outside Japan.

There are also limitations regarding save data compatibility. On Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, save data from the English version cannot be transferred. Save data transfer from the English version is also unavailable on Steam, with Kingdom Hearts III being an exception. On the Epic Games Store, save data can be carried over for products purchased using accounts outside Japan.

Separate details were provided for existing Nintendo Switch Cloud Version owners regarding discounted purchases of the new version and save data transfer. Service for the Cloud Version will remain available until 11:59 PM on June 9, 2027.

Meanwhile, Square Enix released three major Kingdom Hearts titles and their bundled collection on October 8. The individual titles and bundled collection are available as digital downloads, and KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX is also playable on the original Nintendo Switch. On Steam, the existing product name INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE will change to Collection, while the bundled collection is set to launch on the Epic Games Store on October 9.

Kingdom Hearts is an RPG series presented by Disney and Square Enix. Since the release of the first title in March 2002, a total of 13 entries have been launched, reaching 20 titles when including FINAL MIX versions. As of the end of March 2026, global cumulative shipments and sales have exceeded 39 million units.

Square Enix plans to release a physical edition to coincide with the Korean language support in early summer 2027. Specific physical release details and further specifications for Korean support across each platform will be revealed at a later date.
