The Kalif's Jewel Research event has returned. While the core mechanic remains the same—combining jewels and Adena to craft pouches that yield a chance at valuable items when opened—the variety of pouches has grown, along with the diversity of items you can obtain from them.
The event runs for two weeks, from August 12 to 26, and players can participate by visiting Kalif the Jewel Researcher, located at the 11 o'clock direction of Giran Town Square. Starting with this event, pouches are divided into Red and Blue versions across three grades—Normal, Fine, and Superior—and the items obtainable from them differ accordingly, so players should compare them carefully before purchasing.
The pouch crafting materials remain the same as before, regardless of color. Normal Pouches require 1 of each of the 4 regular jewels (Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond) and 5,000 Adena. Fine Pouches require 1 of each of the 4 Fine jewels and 50,000 Adena, while Superior Pouches require 1 of each of the 4 Superior jewels and 500,000 Adena. As for jewels, Cube sales have currently begun, offering another way to obtain them.
Upon opening, each pouch yields one random item from the entire pool of common rewards for that pouch and color-exclusive rewards (spellbooks). Because the drop rate for spellbooks is extremely low, common rewards will appear in most cases, so players are advised against overcommitting.
For Normal Pouches, the jackpot item among the common rewards is Ash of Ashitazio. The Red Pouch can yield Eye of Storm, Sunburst, Berserkers, Earthquake, and Greater Haste. The Blue Pouch can yield Tornado, Eruption, Wind Walk, Call Lightning, and Mana Drain.
In Fine Pouches, notable jackpot drops include Ash of Ashitazio, Sacred Unicorn Horn, Superior Sapphire, and Superior Diamond; however, starting from Fine Pouches, the investment cost is high, so pulling just Ash of Ashitazio won't break even. Exclusive rewards for the Red Pouch include Summon Monster, Bless Weapon, Ice Lance, and Fog of Sleeping, while the Blue Pouch yields Area of Silence, Mass Teleport, Heal All, and Holy Walk.
Considering the required investment, the only true jackpot among common rewards in Superior Pouches is a Blessed Scroll of Enchant Armor (B-Zel), as even a Blessed Scroll of Enchant Weapon (B-Dai) results in a net loss. In essence, players must aim for the spellbooks when investing; the Red Pouch can yield Shock Stun, Fire Storm, Solid Carriage, Lightning Storm, and Blizzard. The Blue Pouch can yield Bounce Attack, Cancellation, Triple Arrow, Reduction Armor, and Blood to Soul.
