Oh Jin-ho, Chief Global Publishing Officer (CGPO) who has led KRAFTON's global publishing efforts, shared his thoughts on his departure via social media on the 24th. He announced his decision to conclude a 30-year career to pursue new challenges, noting that the recent passing of both his parents influenced his decision. Oh will remain as a strategic advisor until this autumn to assist with the transition.

KRAFTON previously announced on the 22nd that Jang Tae-seok, who led the global success of 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' (PUBG), had been appointed as the head of company-wide publishing, and that Oh would be stepping down from his frontline role. The company explained that Oh would serve as a strategic advisor until September to ensure a smooth handover. His message on the 24th was a personal statement regarding the background and sentiment behind the company's announcement.
In his message, Oh stated that his tenure at KRAFTON was focused on fundamentally restructuring the existing publishing organization into a system capable of global competition. He noted that he rebuilt the organizational foundation, established a clear vision and strategy, recruited talent to build teams, and successfully launched major new titles in the global market. He specifically noted that one of these has become a new franchise IP, though he did not specify the title. Oh emphasized that his most significant achievement was creating an organization that can continue to grow without relying on any single individual.
He cited family history as the reason for his departure. After his father passed away, he returned to Korea with his family to be by his mother's side while she suffered from age-related illness, only for her to pass away suddenly as well. He shared that the experience of losing both parents changed him, making the phrase 'family first' take on an entirely different meaning than before.
He emphasized that the time he has to spend fully with his young children is limited. Furthermore, he stated that his desire to build something of his own with trusted colleagues, based on his 30 years of experience growing businesses across various organizations, also played a role in his decision.
Oh reiterated that he would remain with the company until this autumn to ensure a smooth handover. He expressed gratitude for the understanding and support of Chairman Chang Byung-gyu and CEO Kim Chang-han. Regarding his successor, Jang Tae-seok, he described him as a core figure who helped create 'PUBG' and a leader with proven results, adding that he could not have left the role in better hands. He concluded by thanking the colleagues and partners he met along the way, stating that he has moved forward without regrets and looks forward to his next journey.
Oh is a publishing expert who graduated from Cornell University and held key positions at global game companies including Blizzard Entertainment, Riot Games, and Garena. At Riot Games, he served as the first head of the Korea office and as head of global business, and he also served as CEO of Garena. He later worked as a managing partner for Bitkraft Ventures in the Asia-Pacific region before joining KRAFTON as CGPO in September 2024.
His successor, Jang Tae-seok, is a key internal figure who has served as a development producer, art director, executive producer, and studio head since the early development stages of 'PUBG'. He is credited with leading the transition of 'PUBG' to a free-to-play model, expanding the user base, and successfully establishing its global publishing, including mobile. Since 2024, he has been responsible for the overall strategy, publishing, and production of the PUBG IP Franchise Group.
