Master Recruit Guide: Recruiting Masters with X-Coin or Sol

There are over 30 Masters ready to be played in Master X Master (MXM). The various ways you can combine different Masters to battle in different game types or combinations with your friends can be the biggest appeal of this game.

You can’t use all Masters at the start however; other than the two Masters Lua and Sizuka, offered as the basic Masters, the rest are available for use after purchase. There are two ways to purchase Masters: immediately purchasing them with X-Coins, or, meeting certain conditions to recruit them with Sol.

Also, there is a ‘rotation’ system that allows you to play Masters for free for a certain time period. There are two types of rotation, one is the basic rotation that is available for everyone, and membership rotation, which is available only to players with memberships.

◆ How to purchase a Master: by X-Coin or Sol

As mentioned above, there are two ways to purchase Masters: immediately purchasing them with X-Coins, or, meeting certain requirements to buy them with Sol.

Purchasing Masters with X-Coins is very simple. All you have to do is click ‘Recruit Instantly with X-Coins’ on the upper-right button on each Master’s page. The price differs for each Masters, starting from the minimum 990 X-Coins to maximum 2,490 X-Coins.

On the other hand, purchasing Masters with Sol need certain requirements to be met prior to use. This usually requires certain achievement awards, which vary per each Master, such as having over a certain number of wins in a certain game type, meeting a certain level, or collecting certain Masters.

You can check out the achievements and requirements for them on the Master page. Also, if you click on ‘Achievements’, you’ll be directed to the ‘Profile’ page, where you can see more details like Achievement Pts. and so on.

You’ll be able to purchase the Master with Sol once you meet the requirements and achievement details will disappear, unlocking the purchase button. The Sol price for each Master differs, just like with X-Coins, and higher the required X-Coins is, so will be the required Sol.

◆ Rotation: Free Masters available upon waiting

You don’t necessarily have to buy a Master to play it. Certain Masters are available for use through the rotation system. Having the free rotations allows players to try out Masters and Master combinations without needing to spend resources. This way, players have a chance to find out if certain Masters fit their play style.

There are two types of rotations: the basic rotation available to everyone, and the membership rotation available only to players with a membership. There isn’t much difference between the two rotations, although the membership rotation provides more choices. Masters that have been selected for the basic rotation will have a spinning arrow-shaped icon added on the top right part of the Master’s icon, while Masters selected for the membership rotation will have an ‘m’ shaped icon added.

The rotation system provides Masters for players to play for free during that rotation period. Once the rotation period ends, you cannot play the Masters from that rotation unless they enter rotation again or if you purchase the Masters.

The most crucial part of the rotation system is that you cannot upgrade the stage skills or weapon augments, which will make that Master have lower stats than Masters that have been purchased and upgraded. You can upgrade stage skills and weapon augments for the Masters you already own or have purchased during the rotation.

◆ Masters that need special items

Some Masters need certain items to fulfill their achievements. These Masters are: Death Knight, Kromede, Poharan, Kat the Cat, and Rytlock. There are 5 in total, and all of these Masters are similar in the way that they have appeared in other games.

To recruit the Death Knight, you need 30 Death Knight’s Fire Swords to recruit, Kromede requires 30 Judge’s Long Bows, Poharan needs 30 of Poharan’s Eyepatch, Kat the Cat requires 30 Queen Ant’s Rings, and Rytlock needs 30 Shards of Sohothin.

Collecting these items will unlock the purchase with Sol, and you will be able to recruit these Masters with 10 Sol, although you’ll still have the items remaining for use on weapon augments for that Master. You can also purchase them with 3,490 X-Coins.

You can gain these items from Timespace Distortion, one of the PvE modes. There are 5 battlefields in Timespace Distortion: Fire Temple, Black Ram Supply Chain, Ant Nest, Gludio Dungeon, and Ascalon Catacombs. Unlike other stages, you can gain access to certain Timespace Distortion battlefields at certain times on certain dates.

There are two levels of difficulty, Normal and Extreme, for Timespace Distortion. Normal mode is suitable for single or 2 players, and Extreme is more for 3 players. The loot items gained as rewards are the same regardless of what difficulty you chose to play. Once you clear the dungeon, you’ll be awarded a certain number of random rewards based on your final ratings, just like any other stages.

You can collect the Judge’s Long Bow, the item for unlocking Kromede, from the Fire Temple, and Poharan’s Eyepatch for Poharan from the Black Ram Supply Chain. From the Ant Nest, you can get the Queen Ant’s Ring for Kat the Cat, and the Death Knight’s Fire Sword for the Death Knight from the Gludio Dungeon. You can get Shards of Sohothin for Rytlock from the Ascalon Catacombs.

You can also combine Common items you get from killing monsters in Timespace Distortion to collect items for unlocking Masters. For example, combining 55 Huge Mandibles and 35 Huge Ant Wings will give you 1 Queen Ant’s Ring. You can combine items in Manufacture/Exchange section in the Exchange Booth on the bottom of the lobby.
