Blizzard Unveils Deep-Dive Into World of Warcraft: Midnight

Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft development team has released a deep-dive video that closely examines the major content coming in the next expansion, World of Warcraft: Midnight (hereafter Midnight), slated for early next year, and announced the Early Access schedule for the expansion’s brand-new Player Housing feature.

Players who pre-purchase the Midnight expansion will be able to stake out their own homes in Azeroth ahead of others through Early Access starting December 4 (KST). You’ll receive two houses—one per faction (Horde and Alliance)—along with a set of starter décor, giving you a running start toward expressing limitless personal style through the Player Housing system.

Using Orc, Human, Blood Elf, and Night Elf themes, you can freely decorate both interiors and exteriors. In Advanced Mode, you can rotate items, adjust their size, and even place them in midair. Through Monthly Endeavors, you can also unlock themed housing décor and community rewards; these rewards are integrated across core gameplay—Achievements, Professions, Vendors, and Events—so you’ll earn décor simply by playing.

The deep-dive video features Chris Metzen (Creative Director), Ion Hazzikostas (Senior Game Director), Paul Kubit (Associate Game Director), and Maria Hamilton (Design Director), who introduce Midnight’s newly reimagined zones and story, as well as new systems such as Housing and Prey.

In Midnight, the level cap rises to 90, and multiple regions are thoroughly rebuilt—from the lush Eversong Woods to the deep jungles of Zul’Aman. Eversong Woods (formerly split into Eversong Woods and the Ghostlands) is now a single, unified zone connected seamlessly to the Eastern Kingdoms. Silvermoon City, the new shared hub used by both Horde and Alliance, adds fresh landmarks such as the Sanctum of Light and the Garden of Remembrance.

Additional key locales include Harandar, a primordial jungle formed where the roots of the world trees meet at the heart of Azeroth; Zul’Aman, with mist-shrouded ruins, raging storms, and sky-piercing peaks; and the Voidstorm, a realm where chaos and gravity break down and which teems with Dominar, ancient beings of the Void. These will serve as major stages in Midnight’s narrative.

A new Allied Race, the Haranir—an ancient people hailing from Harandar—will also be added. Making use of racial traits, they can travel via the roots of the world trees, and they can choose from a broad lineup of classes: Warrior, Rogue, Priest, Druid, Hunter, Warlock, Monk, and Shaman.

For Demon Hunters, Midnight introduces a third specialization: Devourer, a mid-range DPS spec that forsakes fel energy in favor of the power of the Void. Devourer grafts ranged capability onto the Demon Hunter’s signature mobility and agility. In addition, Void Elves will be able to join the Illidari, expanding the class’ race options.

A new opt-in hunting system, Prey, is also being introduced. By visiting Magister Astalor Bloodsworn in Murder Row in Silvermoon City, players can take part in optional bounty hunts. Prey offers Normal, Hard, and Nightmare difficulties, with greater risks bringing greater rewards.

Meanwhile, Blizzard also unveiled the physical Limited Collector’s Edition of Midnight, which includes a gorgeous art book, a collector’s pin, a Black Heart replica, the Midnight Mythic Bundle, and all digital items. Sales information for Korea will be announced at a later date.
