kkOma on T1 Ending the Long Losing Streak Against Gen.G

After T1 secured a 2–1 victory over Gen.G Esports in the Round 3 homeground fixture of the 2025 LCK Summer Split, Head Coach Kim "kkOma" Jeong-gyunand players Lee “Faker” Sang‑hyeok and Moon “Oner” Hyeon‑jun participated in a post-game interview. kkOma celebrated snapping their losing streak against Gen.G, expressing deep appreciation for his players and staff.

Kim conveyed that he felt privileged to play in such an excellent venue and thanked the organizers for the opportunity. He reflected that, despite the fatigue weighing on players and staff, he was proud they maintained their effort through to the final moments and ultimately secured the win.

When discussing what adjustments finally paid off against Gen.G—a team that had frequently defeated T1—kkOma stated that although their recent head-to-head record hadn’t been favorable, he always believed T1 remained capable of winning. He assessed that on this day, superior player condition and preparation made the difference.

Regarding Gen.G coach Kim "KIM" Jeong‑soo’s remark that his team had emphasized recovery and rest in preparation, kkOma confirmed that T1 had likewise prioritized rest. Yet he acknowledged that it may have been limited: they had only one day off after returning from travel before resuming competition, and recovery was still impeded by jet lag and adjustment challenges. He added that given T1’s demanding schedule, true rest remained difficult. He reiterated gratitude to all coaches and players for their unwavering dedication through a tightly packed calendar.

When asked about the rationale behind using the Aphelios–Thresh bottom lane combination in the decisive third game, kkOma explained that the idea had emerged since MSI and been supported by Keria’s ongoing advocacy. Noting that Thresh had seen increasing competitive usage, he said they judged the duo to be strategically suitable for Game 3. He also cited Gumayusi’s high proficiency on Aphelios as a key enabler for the composition's deployment.

When prompted about giving teammate guidance in his role as captain, Faker explained that he focused less on issuing directives and more on fostering dialogue about how the squad could perform at a higher collective level. Reflecting on the intense schedule spanning MSI, EWC (Esports World Cup), and the Homeground matches, he expressed deep gratitude to all team members for their maximum effort under such pressure.

Oner described the win as affirming—they had achieved the outcome they aimed for and felt good, but he insisted that with another match looming, the team must align their condition and execution with their preparation. He thanked fans for their consistent support, crediting their encouragement with helping the team deliver strong results. He asked supporters to continue cheering and promised to match that energy with compelling performances in upcoming matches.
