Faker first to be inducted into the LoL Esports Hall of Legends

Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok has been selected as the first inductee into the newly established LoL Esports Hall of Legends. On June 22, Riot Games announced in partnership with Mercedes-Benz that Faker would be the inaugural inductee into the LoL Esports Hall of Legends. This decision was made in recognition of his proficient League of Legends gameplay, numerous contributions to the LoL Esports industry, and the inspiration he has provided to millions of fans worldwide.

The LoL Esports Hall of Legends aims to honor achievements in both LoL Esports and League of Legends by selecting one professional player each year for induction. The selection is conducted by an independent voting panel comprised of esports industry veterans and regional experts. Criteria for selection include international status, records of wins in international and regional leagues, key statistics by position, and overall contributions to LoL Esports.

Inductees receive a special trophy commemorating their achievements and will be honored in-game with a game pass and collection celebrating their legacy. Fans can celebrate the inductee by purchasing special commemorative content reflecting the inductee’s historic moments. Both the inductee and their team receive a percentage of the proceeds from these sales.

As the first inductee, Faker has displayed exceptional performance over the past 12 years in League of Legends and the esports industry. As the mid-laner for T1, he has inspired gamers with his remarkable plays and led his team to numerous victories, including 10 LCK titles, 2 MSI titles, and 4 World Championships.

John Needham, Riot Games Head of Esports, described Faker as the most iconic and influential figure in the history of League of Legends and esports, and stated that he is truly deserving of being the inaugural Hall of Fame inductee.

Faker will receive a custom-made Mercedes AMG SL 63 and a special art piece prepared by Mercedes-Benz. Britta Seeger, Head of Sales at Mercedes-Benz Group, expressed her delight at being part of the Hall of Legends as the official automotive partner of international League of Legends esports, noting the growing momentum of esports.

In addition, an in-game event will be held to honor Faker. This event will include an Event Pass that highlights key moments and achievements from Faker's career. Fans can purchase themed content, collections, and skins to celebrate Faker's induction into the Hall of Fame. Further details about the in-game event will be revealed on June 14.
