GEN Lehends: "Since our AD carry is Peyz, Kalista is still a good pick even with the nerfs."

On Mar. 9, in the 2024 LCK Spring Split, Gen.G faced T1. Despite high expectations for this Saturday Showdown, Gen.G swiftly secured a 2-0 victory, reclaiming the top position in the standings. Following the match, the Players of the Games, Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu and Son “Lehends” Si-woo, joined Bae Hye-ji for an interview.

Congratulations on the victory. It was an important Saturday Showdown. You beat T1 in both Rounds 1 and 2 and regained the top spot. How do you feel?

Lehends: It was essentially a match to decide the top spot, so I'm extremely happy that we won. It feels even better because it feels like we're performing well.

Given the importance of the match, did you manage your condition well?

Canyon: Since it was such an important match, managing our condition was crucial. I made sure to get enough rest last night, and I think that contributed to our victory with good condition.

Today's match marks Gen.G’s 7th consecutive win against T1. How does that feel?

Lehends: It’s good since It seems that we’re doing well, but I contributed to only half of those wins. [Laughs] It’s still good.

In the Game 1, the opponent drafted Jayce and LeBlanc. Did you anticipate this?

Canyon: With Jayce, considering the recent buffs and Zeus's proficiency with him, I thought he might be picked. However, LeBlanc was unexpected.

You relentlessly pressured Jayce from the early game, allowing K’Sante to secure 2 kills and scale well. How did you plan the early ganks?

Canyon: I saw the opponent’s position near their red buff from earlier, so I thought it would work out if I recall immediately and gank top. It turned out to be successful.

T1 picked Lucian and Nami in both games. What was your main focus?

Lehends: T1's bot lane often picks aggressively, so I spent a lot of time thinking about that. I think I spent the whole day preparing for the bot lane. However, there were too many possible picks, making it difficult.

There were several super saves with your Renata Glasc. What was your reaction?

Lehends: I don't remember the specific moments I made the saves. I think Peyz just did well, and it looked like I made the plays.

Even with Kalista's nerfs, is she still viable?

Lehends: Since our AD carry is Peyz, Kalista is still a good pick even with the nerfs.

In Game 1, T1 didn't even get a single kill. Game 2 was also a decisive victory. Did you expect such a flawless victory?

Canyon: I didn't expect it to be this smooth. Regardless of who wins, I thought it would be really tough, so winning 2-0 cleanly feels great.

Lehends: I was somewhat optimistic, and I thought chances were fifty-fifty. Our team overall focused well in the early game, which allowed us to win.

What are your preparations for the remaining games?

Canyon: There aren't many matches left in the second round, but we'll make sure to win all the remaining ones.

Lehends: Even though we won today's match 2-0, we'll approach each game with concentration and make sure that we’re the ones to laugh last.

A word to the fans?

Canyon: Thank you for always supporting us. We'll do our best to make it entertaining for the fans.

Lehends: Kiin promised that if we win 2-0 today, he'll make a pledge to the fans. I'm looking forward to it. We'll make sure to win the next game entertainingly as well.
