T1 Keria: "Since Faker is the captain, the other players rely on him out of the game a lot as well."

On Aug. 4, in the 2023 LCK Summer Split, T1 defeated Liiv SANDBOX 2-1 and concluded the regular season. T1 struggled through the latter half of the season as Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok took one month off due to a wrist injury, but with his return, T1 finished off the season with two straight wins. After the match, interim head coach Lim “Tom” Jae-hyeon and support Ryu “Keria” Min-seok joined the media for an interview.

How do you feel about winning two straight matches?

Tom: We won 2-1. It’s very meaningful that we had two straight wins prior to the playoffs. I’m satisfied.

Keria: We got two straight wins just before the playoffs, so it’s good since we gained more confidence.

Considering this week’s results and your performance, how satisfied are you?

Tom: Compared to last week, we got on the right track. Our performance is improving more and more as we practice.

Keria: With Faker back, our performance is much better, but we still have far to go.

The regular season has come to an end. How was the season overall?

Tom: It was full of ups and downs. We were able to learn what we lacked and improve over the summer season.

It’s likely that you’ll meet the No.4 team in the playoffs. Which team do you want to meet?

Tom: We’ll have to see, but whoever comes 4th and faces us, we can win.

Keria: Hanwha Life Esports and Dplus Kia are both great teams. If we improve our performance more in the remaining time, we can win.

How does Faker help outside of the game?

Tom: When Poby was playing, the other players felt that they have to do 120% instead of 100%. As Faker returned, that disappeared.

Keria: In July, I felt that I had to do more. We fell, trying to do things we couldn’t do. Since Faker is the captain, the other players rely on him out of the game a lot as well.

What do you think you need to improve?

Tom: In game 2, the opponent showed a game playing Nocturne before. I missed that. I’d like to apologize to the players for that. Our goal is to make a condition where the players can make the best choice depending on how the situation is.

Any last comments?

Tom: Poby did well during Faker’s absence. I’d like to thank the players who worked hard to overcome the difficult situation and the fans who were beside us the whole time.

Keria: I’d like to thank Poby, and I’d like to say sorry to him for only winning one match together.
