LEC + LCS 2022 Summer Split Tier List

With the Summer Split about to begin for Europe's LEC and North America's LCS, Inven Global’s League of Legends team have ranked all 20 teams by tier. MSI recency bias aside, we looked at the relative strength of each team both within their region and compared to their neighbors to identify which teams have the best shot at showing up big at Worlds 2022.

G2 Esports stand alone in S-tier

G2 Esports is the only team from both the LEC and the LCS that are in S-tier. While G2 and Evil Geniuses both had relatively similar finishes in getting swept in the semifinals of the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational, G2's 6-0 head-to-head against EG put them a cut above the rest of the Western teams.

Most of EG's players are younger and less proven than the likes of G2 jungler Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski or mid laner Rasmus "caPs" Winther, who have been dynamite for the better part of the last two months throughout MSI and the 2022 LEC Spring Playoffs, which saw G2 Esports go on a 12-0 run with four sweeps in a row to add another domestic title to their accolades. The streak finally ended in the MSI 2022 Rumble Stage at the hands of PSG Talon after 24 straight wins.

Evil Geniuses top A-tier

This isn't to say EG is a bad team — far from it, in fact. The reigning LCS champion is a smidge below G2 Esports, but a smidge above the rest of the top European teams and, in varying degrees, far ahead of the rest of the west. Rogue and Fnatic could certainly give EG a run for their money, and following them are Team Liquid and 100 Thieves.

TL and 100 both lost to EG in clean sweeps in an epic conclusion to the 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs in Houston, TX, but TL's series was far more competitive game-to-game.

Cloud9 sit atop a LEC-heavy B-tier

Cloud9 is a relatively difficult team to evaluate given that they have completely discarded their approach from this past spring, but the return of Nicolaj "Jensen" Jensen in the mid lane as well as the level of talent present throughout the roster is enough to put them atop B-tier. The rest of the LCS sits in C-tier or below, but the LEC had four teams come just behind Cloud9 in B-tier.
