After many fans, LEC analysts, and members of the Team Vitality organization proclaimed the 2022 LEC roster to be the league's new "super team", their run in the 2022 LEC playoffs has ended. In a 3-0 sweep, G2 Esports ended their chances of contending for the LEC title, as well as their chances of competing in this year's Mid-Season Invitational. G2 will continue their playoff run against Misfits on Sunday, April 3rd.

Team Vitality came into Game 1 with a strong early game plan. After Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis found early kills, Vitality secured a strong advantage. However, G2 held on strong , and was able to even up the score as they went into the mid game. After an important Baron Nashor fight around 30 minutes, G2 converted their advantage into a win.

Game 2 was a far more one-sided affair. Though Rasmus "caPs" Winther had some difficulties in the beginning stages of the game, Sergen "Broken Blade" Çelik performance was the most important win-condition for G2. Managing an early kill with Jax, Broken Blade snowballed his lead into an enormous advantage — destroying one of Vitality's Inhibitor turrets before 20 minutes.

Although Game 3 was heavily in favor of Team Vitality throughout the majority of the game, a crucial Baron steal, superior team fighting, and macro play on G2's part allowed them to secure a final win to defeat Vitality 3-0.

Though some in Vitality's organization have cited this year's roster as a developing team, this split's result was no doubt disappointing for many fans. After securing many of the most sought-after prospects in the 2021 off season, many fans and analysts considered Team Vitality to be one of the front-runners to win the LEC.  The 0-3 loss was the first sweep of the 2022 LEC playoffs.
