KDF FATE: “Breaking the losing streak was just a matter of time. I’m happy that it wasn't too late.”

On Feb. 13, in the 2022 LCK Spring Split, Kwangdong Freecs defeated Nongshim RedForce and finally added a win to their record, breaking their long losing streak. In the match, Yoo “FATE” Soo-hyeok had a good performance and was voted as the Player of the Game for game 2. FATE joined the press room after the match, and talked about the team and his struggles through the losing streak.

It was a long losing streak. How do you feel about winning today's match?

Although the win against wasn't Nongshim RedForce's best roster, I’m happy that we won.

You probably had gone through a hard time over the losing streak. How was it?

Before the Lunar New Year break, our teamwork wasn't simply good enough. After the break, I felt that we got better in scrims and in games. Breaking the losing streak was just a matter of time. I’m happy that it wasn't too late.

It seemed that Kwangdong Freecs’ teamwork wasn’t very good during the losing streak, but it got much better today. How did you resolve that problem?

I think our individual prowesses were really good. The problem was our early game macro and skirmishes. We all talked together about how we would deal with those situations with the coaching staff.

What did you personally try to improve?

I tried to take more priority and use my teammates more.

How did you deal with the losing streak mentally?

I just tried to work harder. A lot of people, including the coaching staff, tried to encourage us. We also talked about how we want to move forward. We were able to overcome the mentality issues by having more conversations.

How would you rate your performance today?

I think about 8 out of 10. We made some mistakes while drawing the big picture.

Your next match will be against Hanwha Life Esports. How will you prepare?

Rather than preparing specifically for them, we’ll try to improve what we did so that we could continue to do well. We’ll need to prepare well so that we can handle any situation that comes our way.

Any last comments?

We’ve been improving little by little through practice. I’ll keep working hard so that we could win as many matches as we can.
