FaZe Teeqo is stepping away from FaZe Clan and the public eye for a while after his recent suspension over his involvement in promoting the SaveTheKids crypto scandal. FaZe Teeqo has since been ostensibly cleared of dumping his SaveTheKids tokens, however, the entire scandal has had a negative impact on Teeqo's mental health over the past month.
"I know you haven't heard from me for a while," Teeqo said in a Tweet on Sunday. "Life's been an absolute nightmare the past month & I'd be lying if I said I was well. I've been doing a lot of thinking about my life overall, the past decade, and what my next chapter might look like. I'm going to be gone for some time."
He continued, "I need to take care of myself before I do something really stupid. I'm not sure when or if I'll be back. I'm uploading a video this week explaining more."
In response to his announcement, members of FaZe and the esports community generally shared their love and support for Teeqo. Most notably, FaZe Banks replied, saying, "We'll always be waiting for you when you're ready to come back. Love you, this shits forever whether you like it or not."
FaZe Teeqo was suspended from FaZe Clan on July 1st, alongside Nikan and Jarvis, while Kay was completely cut from the org. All four were disciplined over their involvement in the public promotion of the pump-and-dump scheme, with all four also being accused of directly profiting off the scam.
However, Someordinarygamer and Coffeezilla did a deep dive into Teeqo's publicly available crypto wallet and were able to confirm that he did not participate in the dump, which means he did not directly profit off of the Savethekids pump-and-dump scheme. It seems that despite him being cleared, Teeqo has still had a bad time of it over the past month under suspension.
Teeqo will release a new video later this week with more details about his decision to step away.
