MVP Black’s Merryday quitting competitive gaming after Mid-Season Brawl

Today TaeJun “merryday” Yi, support player for Korean team MVP Black, announced on his Twitch stream that he would be retiring from Heroes of the Storm to pursue education following the Mid-Season Brawl in June.

Merryday said that he tried to quit before HGC started in January to go back to school but couldn’t leave his team without a support player. As of now, he plans to stay with the team until the end of the season and retire after the Mid-Season Brawl in June, after which he will go back to university.

Several months ago, rumors arose that several MVP players were planning on retiring or switching games at the end of the year, though no names were mentioned. MVP Black’s star assassin player Rich later retired during the off season in December, but the rest of the MVP players stayed in the scene.

MVP Black comes off a gigantic win at the Eastern Clash in China last weekend where they beat the two-time World Champions L5 in a close series. They are one of the favorites to win the Mid-Season Brawl.
