Astralis has issued a statement regarding the solo queue behavior of support Hampus "promisq" Abrahamsson. The statement comes in response to multiple members of the European League of Legends community taking online to post screenshots telling other players to 'get cancer' as well as threats to intentionally feed in ranked games from the League of Legends European Championship veteran.
It's safe to say that this is not the type of mid-season intention Astralis was looking for, especially after a 6-12 9th place finish in the 2021 LEC Spring Split. Multiple members of the European League of Legends playerbase took to Twitter to post screenshots of promisq's behavior the day before the statement, which sparked a community-wide discussion across multiple social media platforms.
Many others have responded saying that this is not the first time promisq has behaved in this manner, going so far as to say that this pattern of behavior from promisq is well-known and a familiar trend to high elo players of all types in European solo queue. Given the longevity of promisq's LEC career — his debut was with Elements in the 2015 EU LCS Summer Split — it is surprising that this is the first time his behavior has been brought to light.
In its statement, Astralis mentions that while the players are currently on-break due to the 2021 LEC Summer Split not starting till after the Mid-Season Invitational, the organiation will be handling the matter internally with promisq and taking responsibility regardless of what point in the season the events took place. As for promisq, the AST support has not made any type of public statement on the matter, either officially or unofficially via social media or a stream.
Whether promisq will remain with Astralis is currently unknown, and while some fans are calling for the removal of him from the roster, AST may not want to lose another one of its veterans after parting ways with mid laner Erlend "nukeduck" Våtevik Holm during the LEC Spring Split.
