A surprise Nintendo Direct has announced the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighter earlier than expected to coincide with the release of Godzilla vs. Kong. And it looks like Godzilla is smashing the competition.

Sakurai seemed to be in a big rush to get the news out during the short stream. Because it was only about five minutes, not much is known about Godzilla's moveset but we were able to infer a few interesting attacks before the stream was cut.

Godzilla will have atomic breathe as one of his smash attacks. It appears that charging the move will make the blast stronger and travel further across the map. Fighters caught within the blast will take ticking damage for a short period of time, during which they are more susceptible to knockback.

It also seems like Godzilla will be able to deflect projectiles. When a projectile is launched at the giant lizard, he will simply absorb it. His attacks will become stronger for the following few seconds, making it a very strong counter.

Godzilla also appears to have the ability to fly, something the kaiju can do in Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster. Godzilla's Final Smash seems to bring out Mothra for an all-out monster attack. With his lover's guidance, Godzilla is able to have even stronger attacks while being invincible to other fighter's incoming attacks. Godzilla will really appreciate this kind of attention to detail.

Another -

Oh sh*t -

RUN!

Okay, at this point I can see Godzilla's eyes peering in the window of Sakurai's house. It either really wants his couch or he's basically about to destroy Japan as a warmup before taking his Smash invitation. The Nintendo Direct has been cut short. I can no longer see what other moves Godzilla has. Oh, and I don't know what's happening to Sakurai or Japan.

Luckily Kirby is an unstoppable force.
