Minkonet announces entry into cloud gaming

Minkonet (www.minkonet.com), a software company that has gained popularity as a replay & esports relay system developer, is entering the cloud gaming tech & business. 

 

Minkonet’s new cloud gaming service will be based on core gaming related technologies and development references that the company has built over the past five years, including those based on its key patents related to esports and 5G gaming content production (8 in the US and 13 in Korea). It will be making intensive investments in related technology to develop the new cloud gaming service. 

 

Minkonet has not only reinforced the cloud service development team starting in the second quarter of this year, but also appointed the second development executives from Samsung Electronics R&D as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and development manager, and has finished relocating personnel prior to investment.

 

The company has also reorganized its existing development executive and employees to general developers __ a management innovation to focus on cloud gaming service development.

Minkonet, a lead in the field of data recording/replay technology, which are core technology related to esports broadcasting and gaming content production, gained recognition from the South Korean gaming industry for features such as Death Cam and Replay in ‘Battleground’ in May 2017, which was possible thanks to Minkonet’s 3D replay technology.

 

Minkonet’s solutions such as Cinematic Editor and esports relay system have been added to ‘Battleground’ up to 2019. Thanks to these additions, Minkonet has been recognized as the number one contributor to the commercialization of ‘Battleground’ gaming video contents and esports. Currently, the solutions are being applied to three AAA games that are preparing to be launched.

 

In addition, since 2019, when 5G communication began in South Korea, Minkonet has also entered the business of providing 5G esports related solutions to local carriers and is striving to diversify its portfolio.

 

Minkonet is providing South Korea’s largest carrier, SK Telecom, with technology and solutions to convert games of LCK 2019 into 360-degree video and VR format, and this year, the company signed a contract with SK Telecom to provide core technologies related to cloud gaming to foster the market.
