[LCK Today] HLE defeats SP 2-1 to take their first victory of the Summer split

On the 19th (KST), Hanwha Life Esports took down SeolHaeOne Prince and took their much needed first victory of the 2020 LCK Summer split, while DRX continued to assert their dominance by defeating Team Dynamics 2-0.

HLE took on SP in the first match of the day. SP showed much more proactivity on a team level, as Mickey’s Azir was able to leave a great impression during teamfights. On the flip side, the mid lane problems that HLE looked unsolved, as SP took the set and led the series 1-0.

HLE fought back in game 2, and it all started with DuDu’s Wukong. Not only did he get numerous solo kills on ikksu’s Wukong, HLE used the snowball from the solo kills to win teamfights. With game 2 going to HLE, it marked HLE’s first set victory in 30 days.

Game 3 looked more even throughout the set, as it was much more back and forth. While HLE’s jungler, Haru, fell behind the enemy jungler in the early game, HLE was able to make a comeback through bold teamfight engages. HLE’s bot lane, Viper and Lehends, not only excelled in defending the enemy’s engage, they were also bold in their offense as well. With the baron buff going over to the HLE’s side, they were able to take down SP’s nexus and take their much needed first victory in the 2020 LCK Summer.

In the second match of the day, DRX took down Team Dynamics 2-0. While DYN’s top laner, Rich, had a sizable lead over his opposing top laner, Doran, DRX found the solution to their victory in the bot lane. With Deft and Keria, on Lucian and Yuumi respectively, having priority in the bot lane, they were able to snowball alongside Pyosik’s Ekko, who also scaled very well into the later stages of the game.

Game 2 was pretty much over from the early game. With Chovy getting a successful roam on top and bottom lane, he was able to set all the DYN’s laners behind. At 12 minutes, DRX had a 5K gold lead, and closed out the game to assert dominance as the 1st place LCK team.
