The last and first matches of the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Summer Split rounds 1 and 2 were held on the 17th (KST). The first match was between Hanwha Life Esports and DRX, and the second match was between Afreeca Freecs and DAMWON Gaming. As many predicted, DRX and DAMWON Gaming dominated their counterparts.

The difference between Hanwha Life Esports and DRX was big. DRX was simply better at all parts of the game in game 1. Their quick gathering for teamfights was especially great. In the second game, DRX took three kills in a bottom dive, but Hanwha Life Esports struck back immediately, taking back three kills themselves. It was Jeong “Mireu” Jo-bin’s Karma who made the loss into a tied kill score at 3:3. However, DRX concentrated on collecting CS and started moving from the mid game. Although Hanwha Life Esports collected dragons well, they lost massively in the most important teamfight and fell down. With this loss, Hanwha Life Esports had to conclude round 1 of the season without any wins.

DAMWON Gaming boasted their prowess in the 2-0 sweep against Afreeca Freecs. From the first game, Afreeca Freecs weren’t able to stand DAMWON Gaming’s attacks. Heo “ShowMaker” Su and Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu’s synergy was amazing and they were able to snowball from there. Through their lead, DAMWON Gaming simply made the snowball bigger and took the win.

Game 2 was even more one-sided. DAMWON Gaming collected kills from the early game and the winner was quite decided at the 10-minute mark. Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee’s Wukong support had a great performance as well. Without hesitation, DAMWON Gaming marched through Afreeca Freecs’ base and destroyed their Nexus before 22 minutes.
