[LCK Today] DRX takes down DWG to solidify themselves in 1st place... SP struggles to break their loss streak

On the 11th (KST), day 19 of the 2020 LCK Summer split came to a conclusion. DragonX took down DAMWON Gaming with a set score of 2-1 in the first series of the day. This series was very important for these two teams, as this series decided who stood at the top of the LCK standings. In the second match of the day, Afreeca Freecs defeated SeolHaeOne Prince, and SP fell deeper into their match loss streak.

In the first series of the day, DRX took the lead over DWG. With Chovy’s Twisted Fate joining the early skirmishes, he was able to flip a disadvantageous game state and even score a kill. After catching out the enemy Lee Sin, DRX was even able to get the Baron Nashor. DWG attempted to backdoor DRX’s Nexus, but Chovy was able to manage the side lanes, which eventually led the team to pushing down the mid lane to take the victory.

In game 2, DWG continuously pushed for fights near mid-bot lane with Ashe, Pantheon, and Zoe. With incredible mechanics displayed, they were able to rake in kills to push their lead. With all dragon stacks in DWG’s pocket, they were able to win a final teamfight won near the dragon pit to even up the series.

Game 3 was full of actions as well. DWG got Nuguri’s Camille ahead, while DRX’s plan was to push the game into the late game in order for Deft’s Aphelios to outscale. On the prowl for the right opportunity, DWG was able to burst down Baron Nashor and win the teamfight. With Chovy’s Azir making plays all over the map, DRX was able to push down the mid lane to win the game.

In the second match of the day, AF was able to assert their dominance over SP in game 1. Fly’s Zoe and Kiin’s Gnar had priority in their lanes, which transitioned to them joining the fights faster than their enemy. With Spirit on his pocket pick, Poppy, AF was able to only gain advantages through map control. In the end, it was a very one-sided victory for AF.

In game 2, SP was able to take an early lead over AF. With great usage of teleport in the bot lane, SP was able to win an early fight in the bot lane and seemingly took the lead. Ikksu even had a solo kill scored on Kiin, but in mid game teamfights, Fly’s Zoe was able to rake in many kills for himself. With the gold deficit lessened to 3-4K gold, Afreeca was able to even win a teamfight in the mid lane to inch ahead of SP. In the end, Aphelios was able to outscale the enemy, so they were able to push through SP’s base and take the 2-0 victory over SP.
