Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader's final piece of downloadable content (DLC), Processional of the Damned, will launch in December and bring the game's story to a close.
According to a release from Owlcat Games, the expansion will add a new storyline, a recruitable companion, a playable Archetype, new enemies and extra gear. An exact release date has not yet been confirmed.
Owlcat, the Cyprus-based developer behind the role-playing game, said the DLC will be fully integrated into the main campaign, as the three previous DLCs were. New quests will therefore appear throughout the existing story.
Who is Stella?
The main addition is Stella, a young psyker (a person with psychic powers) raised by the Ecclesiarchy, the setting's state church. She is unsanctioned, which means she has not been officially approved to use her abilities. Even so, the release said her order treats her as 'a miracle created by the God Emperor Himself'. Her powers are unstable. When she uses them, she weeps blood and cracks spread across her porcelain-like skin.
In combat, Stella sends out bursts of psychic energy that deal area-of-effect (AoE) damage to enemies around her. She can learn to control her powers up to a point. However, the release noted that veil degradation and the influence of the warp mean she will always be at risk of danger and madness. How her story unfolds will be up to players. They can turn her into a weapon, treat her as a friend and ally, or follow her into madness.
New Archetype and Madness system
Processional of the Damned also introduces the Zealot, a melee-focused Archetype (Rogue Trader's version of a character class) built around bludgeoning enemies to death. A new feature called Madness will affect every companion. The release did not explain how the system works, directing players to Owlcat's blog post for more details. Players will also face new enemies from the Arch Enemy and the Aeldari.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is available on PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG. On console, it can be played on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Owlcat is also working on another title set in the same universe, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy.
