On September 23, 2026, Meta unveiled a new lineup of virtual reality (VR) glasses and artificial intelligence (AI) glasses at Meta Connect 2026. The company expanded the usability of glass-type devices, ranging from 'Meta VR Glasses' designed for watching movies and working, to 'Ray-Ban Meta Audio' focused on music and phone calls.
The newly introduced Meta VR Glasses weigh approximately 100g for the eyewear worn on the face. The sensors and display are placed on the glasses, while the computing unit, battery, and storage are separated into a tethered module. Meta explained that the product features a 5K micro-OLED display and supports controls using eye tracking and hand gestures.
Users can open multiple screens in virtual space or use flat surfaces as keyboards and touchpads. Meta stated that continuous high-resolution video playback lasts up to 3 hours. The device is scheduled for launch in spring 2027 at a price of $1,299.99 (approx. 1.78 million won).
Meta also expanded its lineup of everyday AI glasses. Ray-Ban Meta Audio is a pair of audio glasses weighing 43g that offers music listening, phone calls, and AI voice features. Meta stated the battery life lasts up to 12 hours, with an additional 48 hours available using the charging case. Prices start at $349 (approx. 480,000 won). Pre-orders began on September 23, with shipping scheduled for October 13.
'Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3' features a slimmer design, up to 9 hours of battery life, and a customizable action button. Equipped with a 12-megapixel camera and 3K video recording, sales began on September 23. Prices start at $449 (approx. 620,000 won).
Navigation and communication features will be added to the existing 'Meta Ray-Ban Display'. Cycling navigation and real-time public transit departure information will roll out sequentially in the US and Canada in September. The 'Hologram' feature, which estimates facial expressions based on voice to display a digital face, will be introduced as an early access feature on WhatsApp for US users this fall. Sales began on September 23 in the UK and Canada, while in France, Italy, and Germany, sales will begin on October 13 following pre-orders.
Meta also announced plans to connect its personal AI agent 'Muse' to its AI glasses. South Korea was included among the new sales countries for the standalone 'Meta Glasses' lineup.
