SQUARE ENIX has released the trailer for 'FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION,' the final installment of the 'Final Fantasy VII' remake trilogy. The game is scheduled for release in the spring of 2027.
'REVELATION' concludes the remake series that began with 'Remake' in 2020 and 'Rebirth' in 2024. To save a planet on the brink of destruction, Cloud and his companions board the airship Highwind, embarking on a final journey to stop their nemesis Sephiroth—who has ascended to godhood—and the ultimate destructive Magic, 'Meteor.' The title is set to launch in time for the 30th anniversary of the original game.
The trailer highlights the resolve of the party as they face the planet's crisis. Accompanied by narration stating, "Since its birth, this planet has faced the brink of extinction time and again," the trailer builds the atmosphere of the final showdown with lines such as, "Let's go crush Sephiroth," and, "The future is in your hands, Cloud." The massive 'Weapon' also makes an appearance in the footage.
In the trailer, the party ventures into a borderless world, with the airship Highwind allowing for free exploration of the entire planet. The video also showcases a seamless transition from air to ground, where players can parachute down from anywhere. Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind, who appeared as NPCs in the original, join the roster as playable characters in this installment. FINAL FANTASY Portal SiteGosuGamers
The trailer was first unveiled at Summer Game Fest, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles this June, featuring an appearance by voice actor Matthew Mercer, who reprises his role as Vincent Valentine from 'Rebirth.'
A notable point is the release platform. Unlike its predecessors, 'Remake' and 'Rebirth,' which were released as timed console exclusives for the PS5, 'REVELATION' will launch simultaneously in the spring of 2027 on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Xbox PC app. This marks the first time in the remake trilogy that the game has moved away from timed console exclusivity.
