SQUARE ENIX has announced that the latest installment in the Dragon Quest Monsters series, 'Dragon Quest Monsters 4: Bianca and Flora of the Arid Land,' will be released worldwide on December 3, 2026.

The game will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Microsoft Store on Windows, with the Steam version launching one day later on December 4.

The protagonists of this new title are Bianca and Flora, who appeared in 'Dragon Quest V.' While searching for a mysterious herb called 'Soul Leaf' to cure their father's illness, they are guided by a spirit named Cottonmon, who appears at their bedside one night, to a 'Arid Land' in another world. However, the Arid Land has already been consumed by the power of darkness, and even the Soul Leaf has vanished. Empowered by Cottonmon to become Monster Masters capable of connecting with monsters, the two embark on a journey across the world to restore the Soul Leaf.

Players can choose to control either Bianca or Flora. Bianca (voiced by Marina Inoue) is a bright and sociable girl from Alcapa who leads the party with her natural initiative. Flora (voiced by Kana Hanazawa) is a modest and lovely girl from Stockenvale with a warm personality who quietly reaches out to others' hearts. A major pillar of the story is how these two, despite their shared goal, navigate their adventure together—sometimes bickering and sometimes encouraging one another.

Companions assisting the two protagonists have also been revealed. Flora's older sister, Debora (voiced by Romi Park), has a free-spirited and frank personality and subtly looks after her younger sister. The spirit Cottonmon (voiced by Yoshino Aoyama) serves as a reliable partner throughout the adventure, teaching the secrets of being a Monster Master, while another spirit, Olapipi (voiced by Hina Suguta), accompanies Debora and livens up the atmosphere with her uniquely cheerful tone.

The adventure expands from the Arid Land to various regions. Unique fields unfold, such as beaches that feel like midsummer and mysterious meadows where giant vegetables and fruits grow, with gimmicks and dungeons hidden throughout. There are also sections for underwater exploration, including a sunken pirate ship resting beyond the coral reefs. The fields feature a day-night cycle, with the species and behavior of monsters changing depending on the time of day.

Monster raising, the core of the series, has been further enhanced. Players can recruit monsters in various ways, such as scouting them during battle or having them ask to join the party voluntarily, and can synthesize monsters to create new species. In this title, over 500 species are available, including series staples and new additions. Players can also get a first look at new monsters, such as the 'Bark-Duck,' which features fluffy fur and a beak strong enough to break rocks.

Four pieces of additional downloadable content (DLC) will be released alongside the main game. The 'True Mole Hole' is a special dungeon featuring only monsters the player has previously befriended, allowing them to search by rank and family to increase the chances of encountering specific monsters. 'Monster Expedition' is a minigame where players organize a party and issue dash and jump commands to earn materials, EXP, and gold. The 'Metal Ring' is an item that turns all monsters in the field into Metal Slime variants, and the 'Scout Park VIP Card' provides various convenience perks when using the Scout Park. A '4-DLC Set' bundle will also be available.

The product will be sold in a standard edition, a 'Masters Edition' bundled with the additional DLC, and a limited-quantity 'Perfect Masters Edition' that includes original bonus merchandise. The physical package version will be released only for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. Pricing can be checked at regional stores.

The game features Yuji Horii as general director, Akira Toriyama as character designer, and Koichi Sugiyama as composer, with package illustrations by Hayato Yamamoto.
