Gen.G Esports defeated T1 2-0 in their 2026 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) regular season Round 1 match, held at LoL PARK in Jongno on the 8th. Both sets were clean performances, with Gen.G making almost no mistakes as they translated their early-game leads into victories.

The first set began with Gen.G in the lead and T1 in pursuit. Kim 'Canyon' Geon-bu solo-killed Lee 'Faker' Sang-hyeok's Ryze while he was clearing a wave before recalling, and Kim 'Kiin' Gi-in's Sion also solo-killed Choi 'Doran' Hyun-joon's Jayce. T1 managed to catch a breath by picking off the invading Xin Zhao. Jayce also successfully defended against a dive to force a 1-for-1 trade and later caught out Ju 'Duro' Min-gyu's Bard.

However, Gen.G held a significant advantage in objective control. T1, having drafted a composition that required them to snowball, grew desperate as they were forced to react to Gen.G's pace, and Gen.G did not miss those slight openings. Gen.G won a massive teamfight during the Rift Herald contest after T1's formation collapsed, and they proceeded to sweep kills near Baron, starting with the elimination of Jayce, who had teleported too deep. Empowered by the Baron buff, Gen.G marched into the enemy base without hesitation to end the game.

Gen.G also had a strong start in the second set. They traded kills 3-2 in a skirmish in the bot lane and picked up another kill in the top-side fight. In the mid lane, Jung 'Chovy' Ji-hun's Annie applied heavy pressure, creating a significant CS gap. T1, forced to concede dragons, found a small consolation when Moon 'Oner' Hyeon-jun's Pantheon used his ultimate to take down Park 'Ruler' Jae-hyuk's Zeri. However, they lost all momentum after having their third dragon stolen and losing the subsequent teamfight.

Around the 23-minute mark, the Chemtech Dragon Soul spawned for Gen.G. T1, needing to contest, initiated the dragon, triggering a teamfight. Ju 'Duro' Min-gyu's Neeko perfectly marked Kim 'Peyz' Su-hwan's Zeri—the centerpiece of T1's composition—and with their main damage dealer gone, T1 collapsed. Gen.G claimed the Baron as their prize. The gold lead quickly surged past 10,000, and Gen.G closed out the second set with an overwhelming victory.
