GRV | HOTMESS | Lil Majin: "Bandai Namco and the Tekken community is back in the game."

Terrelle "Lil Majin" Jackson made a huge impression during last year's EVO making top 8. He hopes to repeat history this year, despite having a quiet 2019 and the significant increase in players in this year's EVO. During Day 2 of EVO, Lil Majin spoke with Inven Global about the growth of the Tekken scene, preparing for this year's EVO, and who his toughest opponents are.

Thanks for taking time out of this busy EVO to talk to me. How's your EVO so far?

So far, so good. I just had a nail biter against this junior player - first time fighting a character. But, it was pretty good. It's been amazing being here.

This year in EVO, Tekken 7 has more than 1,900 entrants. What are your thoughts about that number and the growth of the scene?

Thanks to me, of course! Seriously though, Bandai Namco and the Tekken community is back in the game. I'm surprised to see how many people have entered this year. It's been a growing game every single year. Now, it's been like 300 or 400 more entrants than last year, which is an amazing sight to see. New players are coming in, still supporting the game.

Does that motivate you to keep improving at the game?

Oh, definitely! With more people playing, there's more adversaries and more challenges. Plus, we have Arslan Ash here - some people that haven't been able to travel before are here now. It's going to be a tough road ahead. Improving is a must.

Speaking of which, we haven't heard much from you this year. What things have you done to prepare for EVO?

I've been doing a lot of content creation, like really trying to focus more on streaming and my YouTube channel. As well as trying to create more opportunities for myself with sponsorships and having video sponsors. On top of that, I've been practicing a lot as well - trying to repeat what I did last year and improve on that. It's going to be an interesting show this year.

I'm glad you mentioned last year's EVO. You impressed so many people last year, including me. What can you do to repeat history this year?

Ah man, same as last year. I have to beat everybody that is put before me. I made it top 8 in winners last year and that's the plan this year.

Any new characters that you've been practicing?

I've been on and off playing Armor King and just a little bit of Julia. In the past few months, it's back to King. All King! That's the character I'm going to stick to in EVO.

Since there are so many entrants this year, who do you think are your toughest opponents?

Of course, Knee. He's going to be the toughest. Then, you got last year's EVO champion, LowHigh. There's also the TWT champion, Rangchu. Then, there's Arslan Ash. There's a lot of tough players here.

Also, there's all of America like JimmyJTran, Anakin, Speedkicks, and P. Ling, to name a few.

I've got my work cut out for me, no doubt! I'm going to believe in myself and see what goes on.

Last thing for you, what do you have to say to all the people that's supported you throughout EVO so far?

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you all. I really appreciate the support over all the years. The people who've been supporting me long before my EVO run last year - I thank them. I thank all the newcomers. I thank all the people that are picking up Tekken and playing with King because of what I did last year.

I'm going to keep doing what I do for you guys. I'm going to continue to make a name for myself and make Tekken look great.
