Netmarble's new action RPG, 'Monster Taming: STAR DIVE,' has enjoyed a successful first week, reaching No. 5 on the Google Play revenue chart and No. 9 on the App Store revenue chart just five days after its release.
'Monster Guild: STAR DIVE' is a new title based on 'Monster Taming,' a long-running IP that once defined Netmarble. Unlike the original, which was a turn-based collectible RPG popular at the time, this new entry retains the core identity of the IP while reinterpreting it as an action RPG to align with modern trends. In particular, the game is being praised for successfully inheriting both its identity as an action RPG and the essence of the original IP through the 'Monster Ring' system, a reimagining of the original's capture mechanics.
This performance is notable because the game secured a top spot on the revenue charts shortly after hitting No. 1 in popularity on both major domestic app stores within just one day of launch. By capturing both popularity and revenue, the game is signaling strong potential for long-term success.
What is particularly encouraging is that these revenue rankings are limited to mobile platforms. 'Monster Taming: STAR DIVE' is also playable on PC via the Netmarble Launcher, which supports its own payment system. Therefore, when accounting for the PC user base, the actual scale of revenue is estimated to be even higher.
Meanwhile, the development team previously stated that they put significant effort into designing a reasonable business model (BM) from the start, and the current success is being attributed to that very approach.
