LW Blue Pine: "I’ll try to keep the momentum to win this season"

On May 2nd (local time), LW Blue defeated Conbox Spirit 3-1 in the first match of Day 2 of Ro16 Overwatch APEX Season 3 held at Sangam OGN eStadium, Korea. LW Blue outplayed Conbox Spirit in the macro game as Do-hyun “Pine” Kim played a pivotal role in contributing to the team’s victory with his Genji and Widowmaker.

Below is the post-match press interview with Pine.

How do you feel about the today’s win?

I have no regrets, and it feels really good. I hope to continue this feeling of victory.

What did you guys talk about after losing Game 1?

We couldn’t respond properly to Conbox because they brought a comp that we didn’t anticipate. We talked about how they prepared a Sombra-oriented comp. We found a way to deal with it, so we were able to take the win.

What are your thoughts on Sombra who often sees play these days?

One of her biggest strengths is how fast she can charge her ultimate, and her EMP can nullify the enemy attack. Also, Volskaya Industries is an optimal map to use Sombra.

How do you deal with Sombra?

There will be fewer healers when Sombra comes into play, so take advantage of that to break the comp.

Could you talk about your impressive Windowmaker plays in Watchpoint: Gibraltar?

Widowmaker turned out pretty well, but we were able to win because my teammates covered for me. It wasn’t only me who played well but everyone else on the team as well. It makes it that much more meaningful.

Since you transferred from LW Red to LW Blue, how’s the teamwork coming along?

It’s coming along quite well recently. We try to further improve our teamwork by exchanging feedback after scrims.

How was your first APEX match?

I was very nervous from Game 1 and couldn’t concentrate. Luna put his hand on my shoulder to calm me down, and I was able to overcome my anxiety to focus on my plays.

Your thoughts on the current meta?

Since D.Va is on the upswing, high mobility offense heroes like Genji and Tracer are preferred over McCree and Soldier: 76. Tempo is the name of the game these days, and it’s crucial to focus the enemy down. It gets pretty hectic for DPS players.

Anything else you’d like to say?

I’d like to thank the coaching staff as well as my sister team LW Red. I’ll try to keep the momentum to win this season.
