GRF Chovy: "It may look easy, but there’s no easy opponent to a pro player."

On June 22nd (KST), in the 2019 LCK Summer Split Day 14 match between Griffin and SK Telecom T1, Griffin defeated SKT 2-0. Game 1 went for long, but the second game was rather one-sided. Griffin mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon played Taliyah in Game 2 and delivered an outstanding performance. After the match, Chovy was interviewed by the press.

How do you feel about today’s win?

My performance today wasn’t very good. I’m relieved that we won.

What do you think lacked in your performance?

I was bad in Game 1. A lot. There were so many things that I didn’t do well. It all started when I was ganked in the beginning.

You were really good in the second game. Did it not satisfy you?

Game 2 was alright. It’s just that Game 1 bothers me. (Laughs)

You played against Gori. Did you predict that he’ll play? How was he?

I did predict that he could play, but I thought there wouldn’t be a high chance of him playing. I think he’s a decent mid laner. He does what he needs to do. Since it was the only match, it would be difficult to talk about his style.

Can you explain a bit about the Elder fight at the end of Game 1?

Honestly, it was hard to see who would win. Until Karthus picked up a kill, we weren’t on track. There were definitely benefits from luck for our win. The Elder was reset; there were many things that weren’t visible at the first glace.

It seemed that you weren’t able to roll the snowball in Game 1. Why do you think that is?

SKT endured our attacks well, but if we had played better, I think the game would have been shorter. In my opinion, I think we respected the opponent too much; we might have shadow-boxed, thinking of the worst that can happen.

Tarzan said that he’ll look back at the fundamentals after the game against SANDBOX Gaming. Do you do that as well?

I think it’s good to do so. We make fewer mistakes and the teamwork gets better.

Your next match is against Jin Air Green Wings.

If you’re not a player, it may look easy, but there’s no easy opponent to a pro player. I won’t be careless and deliver good performance.

Any last comments?

I haven’t been able to be that good this summer. I’ll try to get my form back on top. It seems that I’m becoming a bit nervous when I get to the Arena; I’m working on it right now.
