[LCK Summer Day 37 Review] More Fierce Than Ever! Afreeca and Gen.G Each Takes a Victory

From 1st to 3rd place in the LCK standings, every team has 11 wins each -- the competition between the top teams is more fierce than ever. Amidst the fiery competition, Afreeca Freecs and Gen.G Esports each net a win and placed 5th and 2nd respectively.

On the 1st of August, at the Sangam e-Stadium, the 37th day of the '2018 LCK Summer Split' took place. On that day, bbq Olivers played against Gen.G Esports and Afreeca Freecs against SKT T1. At the end of the day, GEN and AFs came out on top of their opponents.

For AFs, their victory today marked their 9th win of the split. Now being placed 5th in the LCK standings, they have raised their chances of qualifying for the Summer Playoffs. As for SKT, they failed to climb the leaderboard. In addition, GEN secured their 11th win, making 2nd place in the LCK standings as a result.

In the AFs vs. SKT series, both sides traded one game each. In game 1, with Bang's outstanding performance on Ezreal, and a super play from Thal's Kennen, SKT was able to take the 1st set. In game 2, however, Kuro's Yasuo and Kiin's Vladimir proved too much for SKT.

In the 3rd and final set, Afreeca Freecs came out victorious. By countering SKT's fast-paced team composition and tactic, AFs took the lead. Kuro's Vel'Koz consistently applied pressure on the enemy Jayce and made many opportunities for the team. With the constant pressure applied by Kuro, Mowgli's Zac was able to consistently initiate on the enemy team. Despite having had Baron stolen away, AFs remained calm and held on to the advantage that they had accumulated throughout the entire match.

At the end of game 1 in the earlier series, GEN left with a smile. In the early game of the 1st set, GEN was able to take the lead through Ambition's gank with Trundle. After killing off a number of enemy champions, GEN secured Baron and finished the game with ease. GEN won game 2 in a similar fashion. With Ambition's quick gank, GEN was able to hold a lead from the early game. By holding onto that lead until the end, GEN finished the series 2-0.
