[LCK Summer Day 23 Results] KT Rolster and Gen.G Esports Take Down Afreeca Freecs and Hanwha Life Esports

The games played today were very close, and as a result, very entertaining. In the end, however, the teams that came out on top were KT Rolster and Gen.G Esports.

On the 15th, at the Seoul Gangnam Nexon Arena, the 23rd day of the '2018 LCK Summer Split' took place. During the 1st series of the day, KT Rolster defeated Afreeca Freecs with a score of 2-1. As for the 2nd series, Gen.G Esports successfully climbed up the standings by defeating Hanwha Life Esports.

Afreeca Freecs began the series by taking the first set. By building a rather unique team composition, AFs was able to win a Baron fight at 30-minutes into the game. After proceeding to take down the enemy's top inhibitor, AFs took a clean teamfight off of GEN for the set victory.

In game 2, KT came out ahead. The game was unpredictable as both teams fought head-to-head until the very late game. Amidst the conflict between Afreeca's great macro management and KT Rolster's superior teamfighting, Ucal pulled off an amazing play on Yasuo that sealed the game in favor of KT. Although Smeb was caught out and paid the price for it, KT remained collected and took a 4 vs 5 teamfight victory.

KT finalized the series by taking the 3rd and final set. In the early game, KT struggled to keep Kiin's Darius in check. However, after having won multiple teamfights in the late game, KT took the lead. After having killed the enemy's support in the midlane, KT proceeded to secure the Baron and the game as a whole.

During the 1st set of the 2nd series, HLE became the very first team in the LCK to win with a Karthus-Nunu composition. HLE took full advantage of Leona and Kled's amazing teamfight engages and used Karthus and Zoe to give the two initiators back up. Although their lead was small at first, HLE was able to widen the gap to take the game.

GEN, however, tied the series by taking game 2. Throughout the set, CuVee had the spotlight. In the early game, CuVee turned the enemy's 3-man dive into a double kill for himself. With the sudden but large lead that CuVee had secured, he became a major threat to the enemy team in every fight. In the end, GEN took the set.

In game 3, both teams took advantage of the enemy team's weakness. HLE employed Kennen to pressure Mundo and to splitpush. As for GEN, they took Orianna for better objective control. Both teams had taken each other's inhibitors and stayed toe-to-toe. However, after having secured both the Elder Dragon and Baron, GEN was able to come out on top.
