kkOma and Gumayusi: “We’ll prepare better for Worlds”

On September 21 at LoL Park, T1 faced Gen.G Esports in the Lower Bracket Round 3 of the 2025 LCK Playoffs. After pushing the series to a full five games with back-to-back wins in Games 2 and 3, T1 ultimately fell short, crumbling against a relentless Blitzcrank and Gen.G’s devastating dive composition.

Following the match, head coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun and bot laner Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong shared their thoughts in a press interview.

Q: How would you summarize today’s series?
kkOma: It’s very disappointing to lose, and even more so knowing that this was our last LCK match of the year.
Gumayusi: If we had played better, I think we could have won 3-0. There were a lot of regrets in our play, and that’s why it feels especially disappointing.

Q: What aspects felt most disappointing?
kkOma: There are many, but I’d say the teamfights in particular.
Gumayusi: Our objective control was lacking.

Q: This was your last LCK match of the season. Looking back, how do you feel about the year?
kkOma: This year had a lot of ups and downs. I’m grateful to the players for their relentless effort all the way through today’s match. Although our LCK run has ended, the most important stage still lies ahead, so we’ll need to prepare well.
Gumayusi: With the merged LCK format, the season felt really long. It’s disappointing we didn’t win the championship, but like kkOma said, we’ll work hard to prepare for Worlds.

Q: Heading into Worlds, what will you be focusing on improving?
kkOma: We’ll need to address our shortcomings and make sure we’re well-prepared.
Gumayusi: As a player, the best thing I can do is improve myself. I’ll reflect on the parts where I fell short and prepare as hard as I can.

Q: You’ve faced Gen.G many times this year. What was today’s key strategy, and why do you think it didn’t work?
kkOma: We prepared many different things for the playoffs. Personally, I thought objectives, teamfights, and positioning were the most crucial factors today.

Q: As Korea’s fourth seed at Worlds, you’ll be starting in the Play-In Stage against the LPL’s fourth seed.
kkOma: We’ll do everything we can to win and show fans that we can fight until the very end.

Q: Lastly, do you have any words for the fans?
kkOma: We’ll do our best to present a better performance at Worlds. I sincerely thank all the fans who have supported us.
Gumayusi: It’s unfortunate and I feel sorry that our LCK run ended like this. We’ll prepare well for Worlds and do our best to deliver good performances and good results.
