T1 Faker on falling short of 4,500 assists: "I’ll have another chance next time."

On Jun. 17, in the 2023 LCK Summer Split, T1 swept OK BRION and extended their winning streak to three straight matches. With the win, they secured 2nd place in the standings to conclude the week. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong had a great performance today, and they were voted as Players of the Games. They were interviewed on the broadcast after the match.

How do you feel about today’s win?

Faker: I’m satisfied that we had a clean 2-0 win. I made a mistake early in game 2, but we were able to do well thanks to my teammates' help.

Gumayusi: We were able to win because we weren’t careless since they beat Dplus KIA this week.

(To Faker) You almost surpassed the 4,500 assists milestone today. What do you think about the record?

Faker: I don’t mind the records, so there’s no regret that I didn’t make it today. I’ll have another chance next time.

(To Gumayusi) As you said, OK BRION took down Dplus KIA, and Hena’s performance was great. What did you think about the match?

Gumayusi: Although Dplus KIA wasn’t in their best form, OK BRION’s performance was great. Especially, Hena’s performance on Aphelios was impressive in game 3. All the bot laners have been playing Aphelios really well lately, so I enjoyed watching the game.

One of the key points of today’s match was the mid lane matchup. Faker faced Ivory, who just had his debut a few days ago. How was it?

Faker: He did feel a bit like a rookie. There were ambitious moments for him as well. It was a good game.

Azir was buffed, and he’s appearing more now. What’s Azir’s biggest strength?

Faker: Azir is a versatile champion. Its biggest strength is that you can make a variety of plays with it.

The Rakan engage-Azir toss combo was great. How was it planned?

Faker: Keria took charge and said that he’ll engage, so I just naturally followed through.

Jayce was the last pick in game 5. Is it strong against Annie? Or was it for the team comp synergy?

Faker: Whenever we draft a champion, we consider all of that. We decided it was the best pick for us in that situation.

Zeri was on a 5-game losing streak this patch, but Gumayusi stopped it. What do you think about the Zeri vs. Aphelios matchup?

Gumayusi: It’ll depend on the support champion, but the side I’m playing is usually advantageous. [Laughs]

You collected 10K gold in 20 minutes. How did you manage to do that?

Gumayusi: Before the summer season started, I said in my stream that I’ll try to manage my stats a bit. I focused more on CS and turret gold, so I think that’s how.

Your next opponent is Kwangdong Freecs. How do you think it’ll go?

Faker: We’ll prepare well so that we can get good results against Kwangdong Freecs. Thank you always for cheering for us.

Gumayusi: I’ll beat them up.
