Chris Evans (the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Knives Out" star) and Taika Waititi ("What We Do in the Shadows", "Thor: Ragnarok" director, "Our Flag Means Death" director/star) recently shouted out Team KOI in a short Twitter video on Disney España promoting their upcoming film, Lightyear.

Originally in Spanish, the translated tweet read, “From one star team to another. Good luck comes with a very, very special greeting to the team KOI.”

“Team KOI, we want to wish you luck in your upcoming matches,” the Captain America start opened, followed up by Waititi’s introduction of the upcoming Lightyear movie.

Evans voices the titular character of the film, Buzz Lightyear, while Waititi voices Mo Morrison, a fresh recruit in the colonial defense forces, fighting against the movie’s primary antagonist, Emperor Zurg. However, both actors made sure to show some support to KOI.

Previously, KOI finished 4th in the LVP SL 2022 Spring Season and missed out on qualification for European Masters 2022, resulting in some changes to the lineup. However, those changes have not resulted in success in the LVP SL 2022 Summer Split where they are currently in last place with a 1-4 record, midway through week 3 of the Summer Split.

KOI’s next match in the LVP SL 2022 Summer Season will take place on Thursday, June 16 at 3 p.m. ET. As for Evans and Waititi, their new film, Lightyear, had a global release on June 8 at the El Capitan Theater while the theatre release is slated for Friday, June 17.

Created in December 2021, the KOI organization has quickly risen to become a popular force in esports with 565k followers on Twitter since its creation. The popular esports team is co-owned by Spanish Twitch streamer superstar Ibai “Ibai” Llanos and soccer legend Gerard Pique.
