Misfits Gaming jungler Lucjan "Shlatan" Ahmad has won the LEC's Rookie of the Split award. The twenty-year-old Pole earned the trophy for his performance during the 2022 LEC Spring Split's best-of-1 phase, during which Misfits secured a surprising third place in the standings.

Shlatan had big shoes to fill coming into Misfits' LEC team after a great year on their LFL team Misfits Premier. His predecessor, Iván "Razork" Martín, was in conversation to be the MVP of the 2021 Summer Split with his performance, before being picked up by Fnatic.

While Misfits' success in the 2022 Spring Split has largely been attributed to the performance of mid laner Vincent "Vetheo" Berrié, Shlatan was often there to back the Frenchman up. In particular, his Lee Sin play stood out as he often found great flanks to eliminate the opposition.

For Shlatan, the award is a metaphorical bandage around the wound; Misfits was eliminated from the LEC playoffs just last weekend and finished the split in fourth place. Nevertheless, he can pull some confidence from the award as he was far in the lead of his rookie competitors on the voting ballot. LEC video producer Renato "Shakarez" Perdigão showed that Shlatan had received 107 voting points, with G2 bot laner Victor "Flakked" Lirola trailing in second place with 85 points.

It is the fourth year in a row that a jungler wins the LEC Rookie of the Split award in the Spring portion of the year. Previous winners are Oskar "Selfmade" Boderek (Spring 2019), Razork (2020), and Javier "Elyoya" Prades (2021). Earlier, the LEC announced the Coaching Staff of the Split award had been won by Rogue. They also revealed the All-Pro roster, comprised of Odoamne, Malrang, Vetheo, Upset, and Hylissang.
