Four days after the conclusion of the 2022 LEC Spring Split, the first organization has announced roster changes. Astralis, the Danish team that finished in last place after eight weeks of competing, is parting ways with top laner Matti "WhiteKnight" Sormunen and support player Hampus "promisq" Abrahamsson.

"WhiteKnight and promisq have been an important part of the first-ever Astralis roster in League of Legends and our League of Legends team for the past 1,5 years," Astralis said in their announcement of the roster change. "We wish them both good luck in their future endeavors. Astralis will announce full details for our 2022 Summer Split once everything is in place."

WhiteKnight and promisq both were recruited by Astralis in November 2020 and played for three splits with the team. Although their first Spring Split they couldn't lift Astralis beyond a ninth place, they managed to land in seventh place in the Summer Split—just one win away from qualifying for the playoffs.

This year, however, Astralis struggled once again in the Spring Split. They were winless in the first half of the double round robin, going 0-9. Astralis did manage to somewhat turn the tides in the second half of the split, upsetting top contenders such as Rogue and Fnatic, but it was too late. With a 3-15 overall score, the team finished the regular split in tenth place.
