Blizzard announces new survival game to take place in an entirely different universe

It has been a shaky year for Blizzard with the gaming community frustrated with the company culture, leadership, and the handling of Overwatch 2 and Call of Duty's esports scene. But the gaming company is hoping to gain some new fans with the announcement of a new survival game.

Blizzard took to Twitter to state that the company behind Overwatch and World of Warcraft will now be taking on a survival game that features an entirely new universe. Blizzard is calling it the "next chapter," which seems to be purposeful language from the developer that was sued for gender discrimination and scorned for all-but killing the Overwatch League

Activision Blizzard getting purchased by Microsoft was seen as an important step in the possible right direction for Blizzard and it looks like this game is part of that fresh start. Available for PC and console, the "next quest" is a "journey" into a new universe.

"A place full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told, and adventures yet to be lived. A vast realm of possibility waiting to be explored," the announcement declared

Along with the new survival game announcement, Blizzard also announced that it's looking for a few new employees to take part in the journey. This includes a handful of artists and engineers, as well as level designers. Character artists and technical artists are both listed on Blizzard's site as well as audio engineers.

Blizzard told game developers that this is their "call to adventure," asking if they would "answer" it. Blizzard is looking for survival game fans that want to join a "collaborative team of experienced developers."

The project is in its early stages, meaning the game is most likely nowhere near complete. No further information was given, not even a release year. For now, fans are left curious about the survival game. Still, some offered words of wisdom to Blizzard: Don't forget about existing IPs.
